Wakefield head coach Chris Chester ‘sensed’ their defeat to Salford.
After a magnificent run of form, the Wildcats were brought down to earth as they suffered a 38-8 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils.
Although taking positives from Anthony Tupou and Ben Jones-Bishop tries, Chester said: “I could sense after five or 10 minutes we seemed really flat.
“The sin-bins killed us but I have no issues with the referee, it was a trip by Kirmo.
“Most of the penalties were justified and I did not have a problem at all with the referee’s performance.
“We are a long way off where we have been recently and Salford deserved their victory.
“They out-enthused us and we came up short. We took too many shortcuts.”
A full report and reaction will be in Monday’s League Express.
