Fakir dropped after Catalan Dragons crisis meeting

by: Joe Whitley, March 11, 2014, 11:52 am

France prop Jamal Fakir has been dropped to the Catalan Dragons reserve team – Saint-Estève XIII Catalan – for the rest of the French Elite Championship season after a string of poor performances.

Former New Zealand full-back Brent Webb’s future also hangs in the balance and he will be subject to a series of medical tests to determine the rest of his season after a sub-standard performance against the Wildcats on Sunday where at least two of his mistakes led to tries.

Following their fourth successive loss of the year on Sunday against Wakefield, Catalan Dragons called a crisis meeting with senior players in Perpignan and these were the main conclusions. We were sent them in a very vague email in which the Dragons say they will issue no further comment. We will bring you additional information as soon as we have it.
