Most surprized that Melvyn Bettridge didn't get a mention in Referee catagory. And amazed that Richards Whitehouse & Jenkinson from Worcestershire don't get a mention, despite constantly being called up to Lions.
But what do I know!

Our player coach had a Super League contract 3 years-ago, he joined the RAF to become a fighter pilot and was not allowed to sign any other contracts under the MOD laws, he is still only 25 and managed a hat-trick last week-end for Moorends in the Yorkshire Senior Division, also Shaun Carver who also played in the Castleford Colts Championship winning side failed at the week-end to make it 10 try scoring games on the trot, in the last 9 he score 23 including 4 in the shield final against Cardiff Demons. |
Your player coach must be the greatest ever player that the RLC has ever seen then Marauder. Off his CV alone!! Also think that Thorne Moore should have got Best new club, best team and should have had 7 in the Lionhearts as well. Anything else that you wish to lay claim to?
Could be an interesting seperate thread this. Personally I feel that Steve O'Reilly (Crawley Jets and ex-Widnes and GB BARLA could lay a decent claim for finest player in the admittedly short history of the competition.
Of the present generation Paul Curphey and John Williams of Chester have been superb for a few years. I don't think they are the most talented players the world has ever seen. I personally feel that in Mark Yates, Kris Ratcliffe and Daryl Lacey Liverpool have 3 of the finest in the comp and would pick ahead of Curphey and Williams. However the Chester boys have been doing the business for years not a single season.
Have never heard of Charlie but if he has been at the top of his (and the comps) game for 8 years then hats off and would certainly lay a claim for the finest RLC player.

Could be ! also put on his CV Castleford, Yorkshire & England school boys the RAF, according to Phil Caplin if he had brought himself on earlier in the shield final we may have won the game because he helped to bring us back from 26-0 down.
Noticed most of the players you mention are from the North West, they are also very good players at Leeds Akedemics, Wetherby, Hull Pheonix & Bridlington Bulls

They're being announced after the clubs meeting on Oct 30, so i'd be worried if people knew the results already.

i'm a bit confused why they announce them prior to it???? Oh well congrats to everyone and particularly Pete Le Marquand for coach. Pete stepped in at the very last minute when someone pulled out of coaching and has done a great job. To be player, coach, club captain and players rep successfully takes some doing and he's been a legend!
Well chuffed!

I agree, it's a bit of an anti-climax announcing the winners over a week before the Clubs Meeting
Perhaps it's to make sure that the winners are in attendance to receive their awards?
Well done to all winners and great to see Lee Marsden make the Dream Team.

If this is true Shaun Carvers done a great job standing in at centre in the last six games of the season (17 tries) he is now back playing in the pack and in 3 games he has scored 5 tries for Moorends ARLFC.

Congrats all round to those who won, especially Gloucestershire Warriors for their 'Programme Of The Year' gong. Bit surprised by a few of the winners, though, especially Somerset's shock win in the Admin award. They fail to turn up for meetings, often don't ring opposition teams in advance and declined to arrange a meeting for interested clubs in the deep south west recently, despite being asked a number of times by the RLC to do so!
As for the rest? I get a feeling it's been a good year for Telford ;)

Congratulations to all who won an award.
Hull Phoenix are surprised that none of their players have been selected for the dream team. They only supplied five players for the Lionhearts
. Several players have said that they will not play for the Lionhearts next season because no player has been recognised. Hopefully, they will calm down and have a change of heart. I imagine a few clubs, and players, are feeling the same

dream team is based on match reports and man of the match awards so is generally given to stand out players within a team. It's a difficult thing to do and they really can't base it on lionhearts. I hope the guys change there mind!

Desperately unhappy at not winning anything after getting three nominations but that's life. At least Lee Marsden kept the Derby City flag flying in the Dream Team.
Hearty congrats to those who did get a gong - I'm sure it's well deserved.

I think there is a lot of players who will be happy to take their place from other clubs within the conference, and when we have teams like Widnes Saints, Wetherby Bulldogs and Leeds Akedemics who all finished in a better league position than Hull and between them could only supply one Lionhearts player ?. Who nows we may again see a big influx of experienced players from the so called Hearlands.
I was talking to Shaun Carver on Saturday and he or the club have not eared anything about him winning the player of the year so all we can say at this moment is this must be just speculation

I know what you mean. Dom Swann was nominated for the "Player of The YEar" award yet didn't even get in the Dream Team -- surely shome mishtake!
For future reference I'd like to know what criteria is used to decide on the Programme Of The Year. Gloucester's was very good and a worthy winner, but it was little different to ours (which was also nominated, BTW). At least if I knew where we'd gone wrong I could change it so we can have a better chance of winning next year.
Not that I'm obsessed or anything
