Woken at 2am by the contents of half an open lemonade bottle seeping though the duvet, causing a sudden cold wet feeling on my back. Hoping tonight remains uneventful and ones other half puts the top back on before he zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

1

are you Absolutely certain it was lemonade

and

In that split second of waking I went through the thought process of what the hell is it ha ha

It felt like it was something coming out of my back, but didn't feel like blood as  it was cold - so it was a case of 'what's on my back!' 'what IS IT?!'.....only to turn to him and see the lemmo bottle with no top on, now splurging yet more onto the duvet I had disturbed jumping out of bed :(

He always has to have a drink by the bed - I know - lemonade - he doesn't do water like the rest of us

First time he's done it in 5 years and he's on a red card...SINE DIE next ;)

I've just come out of a meeting with senior management at my current client where they were talking about the performance of the staff in the department.  I was representing the 30 people temporarily seconded to my control.

They had a big redundancy operation last year with the director stating that they had kept the cream of the department, they have done trivial recruitment since.  Today's meeting started with that same director demanding that we, the managers, do something about the serious under-performance of those on the lower half of the performance bell-curve.  I was the only one who raised that you could have the top 100 people in the world in a company and a properly weighted bell curve performance system would have half of them in the "below average" range.  It was like something out of a Dilbert comic.

The token HR drone sat looking horrified at the stated plan to "manage out" the bottom 20%.

The IT support manager just sat quietly as he was ranted at for having poorer statistics so far this year and complaints about slow service were high.  It's telling of the culture of the place that he didn't complain back asking what's he supposed to do when over 60% of his team were made redundant yet they were expected to take on even more work.

I think I need a new career...  I'm very glad that Friday is my last day at this client.

A supposed friend of mine liked and shared an EDL link about a UK weather broadcast having Ramadan timings on it.  Out of interest, I read the comments on the link along with my friend's comment and it was just full of utterly racist and obscenely offensive stuff.  It's very highly likely this will be an ex-friend unless she denies all knowledge of it and it was her idiot other half posting on her Facebook page instead of his.

Aaaaargh!

Season of flies / mouches.  I hate 'em.  I nearly ate 'em yesterday not noticing until just before chopper time that a couple of carbonised little wotsits had joined the bangers in the frying pan.

I know its wrong, but today the fly paper has gone up in Chateau Timtum.

A film whose cast includes Max von Sydow, Alexander Skarsgård, Stellan Skarsgård, Mads Mikkelsen, Peter Stormare and Terrence Scammell... got to be a dark, brooding psychodrama, surely? Or the latest Scandi-crime thriller? Er... no. Not exactly.

We have a very first world problem in our house today:  We have far too much fresh food to eat before it goes off.  The freezer got two packs of beef and some leftovers, the wife will use the lamb to make a curry today and it's salmon for lunch.

BT decided today to create a cease order on my phone line with immediate effect.  This immediately cancelled my fibre broadband and my broadband provider sent me a note saying that I may have to pay up for the rest of the contract if I can't fix the problem.

Now, the funny part is that I've never missed a direct debit or payment ever.  BT think it was "user error" on their side and it'll take 7 days to reactivate my phone line.  They offered a £10 credit to my account.  I made it very clear that that's not even slightly acceptable.

I've just received a further call from BT Collections asking me to immediately pay the outstanding part-month balance on my account due to my contractual breach by closing my account without notice.  I was in full Rab C Nesbitt rant mode by the end of that call.

After telling BT to just reactivate the service so I could move to a different supplier, I tried to do that but couldn't.  I wanted to move it to a different company but BT's systems say that the account is ceased and untransferrable.  The very, very helpful people at Zen told me exactly what to say to the BT people to get the problem sorted.

I wanted a quiet day today as well as I had planned to spend the day writing.  Telly off, no radio, no distractions.  That worked well then.  I think I'll just give up for the day and start again tomorrow.
