Charles Mingus ... Ah Um

Love the sax solo by Booker Ervin on Pork Pie Hat

Watching Klute on TV and the disco scene reminded me of this. I think it was Minnie Ripperton's recording debut.

I feel a bit sorry for George. Jazzers can be a bit like punks or indie fans: as soon as you sell more than 100 albums you're a sellout and you've gone mainstream or pop.

It was a really good one, he started playing in clubs when he was 7, as you said the Jazzers didn't take to him in because he used to sing aswell but he did play on some Miles Davis records early on so you would of thought if he was good enough for him.

Given last night's storms in London, I thought this was appropriate. It takes a little while to get going, by the way...

Tom petty.... first album....

I remember, in the days before the internet, searching so many record shops for that (as well as the second album).

Wilson Pickett ... 634-5789

I often wonder how many people called that number, just out of curiosity.

Quite I often thought that about The B52's 6060-842

Both credible phone numbers.

Unlike City Boy and 5705, what was that all about?

Ah, dear old Jello, the voice hasn't changed much. Plastic Surgery Disasters was one of the albums that saw me through the horrors of sixth form.
