New Year's Resolutions?

2. Get rid of nuisance clients. I have some clients who refuse to listen to sense, even in strongly worded written opinions, then get very snippy when I submit invoices for having to spend extra time fixing their faults caused by them simply not listening. The same people who expect me to drop other clients to respond to their needs immediately. The same clients who tend to take 60+ days to pay invoices and tell me I can take my business elsewhere if I don't like their finance policies. They may bring in money but I think I'll be taking up that option in the last sentence for three clients. I'll probably lose 15-20% of my workload and income but my stress levels will go down by far more and I'll be far happier working for clients who respect me. I "sacked" one client last year for refusing to be civil to me, he shouted at everyone and worked on a manage by intimidation method; he got really shouty when I told him that I wasn't an employee and wouldn't take that; thankfully, we were still at the pre-project planning stage and I could walk away without contractual liability.
3. Spend more time with family. I get home probably once a year these days to visit family and it's a rushed affair over two weeks trying to get everyone in. A good few of my family members aren't in great health and are certainly not getting any younger so I know I'll regret it heavily if I don't take the chance to spend time with them.
4. Improve my diet. Cut out more salt, cut out snacking, ensure I eat plenty of fruit & veggies, cut my drinking a bit and eat fewer takeaway and restaurant meals.
That'll do as headline resolutions...
Money can't buy happiness... but it can buy bacon which is close enough.

I haven't lost as mush weight as I would have liked to by now, however I'll keep plugging away.
I haven't spoken to any of my friends in two weeks, while this isn't a resolution, it is part of being happier on my own.
I am doing more of the things I want to do, but being selfish takes longer than a fortnight.

That's tough, especially if you'd lasted over two weeks.

I managed to give up five months ago today. I hadn't really planned to, I just woke up one Sunday morning in August and decided 'that's it, no more'. It's worked... so far!
I don't what's made the difference this time. Even three years ago when I was seriously ill and diagnosed with sky high blood pressure I couldn't give up. I was puffing away again after only a month. Since then I tried and failed to give up several times. This time I think the lack of planning helped, I just did it.
Don't worry though, there's always next time.
