Just read this :
Featherstone Rovers scoop prestigious BEST award

Featherstone Rovers have clinched a major award for their work in the community by giving valuable work experience to the long-term unemployed at Bigfellas Stadium.

The Co-operative Championship club were named Small Employer of the Year at the BEST Celebration Awards organised by BEST (Business Employment Services Training Ltd), a Government-funded training provider.

Featherstone offer work experience and training to 12-strong groups of job seekers and the long-term unemployed under the BEST New Deal Programme and were recognised at the award ceremony in Leeds this week as “an organisation which has made a real difference to the lives of others.”

The volunteers have helped undertake major improvements in and around Rovers’ ground on Post Office Road, including landscaping and work on the terracing, and have made a big impression on all the staff at Featherstone.

“The people we’ve had here from BEST have been a credit to themselves and we feel privileged to have been given the chance to give them work experience,” said Featherstone’s Chief Executive Andy Prout.

“We were taken aback at just being nominated for a BEST award so to actually be named Small employer of the year is overwhelming.

“The award shows what Featherstone Rovers is all about: we’re a club which touches every aspect of the community and we are looking forward to continuing to help people gain the skills and expertise needed to get back into the job market.”

Congratulations and well done
Really good to see a club doing well
