Goldcard is right and this great heritage must not die.

It's back and it's bigger then before and it starts this Saturday.

There will be a good prize for the winner come October so it'll be worth it cool.gif

See here for the questions (which will be up tomorrow) .

Daza has failed to return, and since my separation, I have no Sky, and can't afford it.
Find a pub I can afford to go to that shows rugby in this town?
Yeah, right.
Looked like SQL would die, BUT, Mick has volunteered to watch the matches and mark the questions (cheers, mate) and so the competition can run again this year, will a late start.
The first game will be the Cas v Wires game, the questions will be up tomorrow.

Done.

Tell you what, I'll stick in a nice bottle of whisky, maybe a Laphroaig, for the winner of the Challenged Cup

Well... not vintage but probably one of:

Laphroaig 10yo or (10yo Cask Strength, if it's available from my usual supplier)
Ardbeg 10yo
Bunnahabhain 12yo
Talisker 10yo

Or similar priced equivalent of the winner's choice! Those are in my current cabinet but the Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength is getting harder to find at the usual price, only the scalpers out there have stock but are charging far too much.

It's looking re: the prizes as we have now got the new England shirt to give to the winner of the season long stupid questions.

Thanks for the link... It may prove of use in the future! That said, £45 for a Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength is daylight robbery considering it was under £30 a bottle last time I got one from my local off-license... If that's the new RRP of it then I'll be dropping it from my "recommended" list as it isn't that much better than the standard 10yo, just a higher ABV content and a slightly more robust taste.

It does look a bit steep - I certainly paid a lot less than £42.30 for the Caol Ila Distillers Edition*, when I bought it in Waitrose.

*If you like your Islay whiskies and haven't tried this particular expression of Caol Ila, you have absolutely positively got to. The usual Caol Ila taste is there, but double-maturing in moscatel barrels turns it into a different and outrageously fine entity in its own right.

Cheers for that tip, I'll most certainly get one ordered!

Going to open a bottle of Laphroaig 18yo tonight, they replaced the very nice 15yo with the 18yo and added £10 to the price, if it's not much better than the 15yo then that'll be another dropped from my "recommended" list.

A personal fav of mine is Caol Ila - I've emptied an 18 yo Unchilfilterd as it was rather accomodating wink.gif
