... and was that a hat-trick on debut for Zak Hardaker. How many times has that happened?
Anything I post is a personal opinion

Me memories not what it used to be but didn't a kid called Minter score a hat trick on his debut. Mind you he was outside Newlove. Think it was against Bramley that year when we played each other 4 times.

Whilst a hat-trick on debut may be rare it's definately not that rare this year as Liam Welham did it against Sheffield only a few weeks ago

Beat me to it Jon! It's the second time that's happened this season!. But of course, it's very unusual. Ian Bell scored a hatrick on his full debut last season after one sub appearance.

And yes DMS you are right. The first player to score a debut hatrick was Steve Minter v Bramley in April 1993. Outside Newwy indeed and a bit of a walk in hatrick for the lad who only ever played two games for the club.

So congratulations to young Zak, only the third player in the club's history to notch a debut hatrick.

As for the original question Matt, well yes, it's a record margin. Not our highest ever score though.

Here's a list of our biggest away wins (before last night)....

Gateshead 16 Featherstone Rovers 74 (May 20 2007)
Keighley 6 Featherstone Rovers 68. (July 8 2007)
London Skolars 6 Featherstone Rovers 62. (May 6 2007)

Yes he did, thus becoming the first Fev player to score a hattrick on debut when the opposition was Doncaster, think he was a sub that day.

Good call. I wrote

but of course his hatrick was as a sub. on his debut.

So Zak is the fourth player to score a debut hatrick.

Funny that, just one player in 80 odd years, then three players in the last year.

Talking about Ian Bell does anyone know what he is doing these days? I thought he was playing for York is this true. Its shame we couldn't sort him out as player. I was really impressed with him as a player last year, but not so impressed with other stories off the pitch.

Still wish him all the Best in the game!

Just to add, JJParker Larsen Marabe and Gareth Williamson also made try scoring debuts this season.

So far we've used 29 players this year, 14 of whom have made their debut. That's an awful lot in just five games.

This season has been different to past years with the cancelled matches being played midweek and the fact that the midweek matches have been rendered useless by the competition structure so played a weakened side.
