The RFL is looking to significantly strengthen its senior management team with the appointment of two key posts, a Director of Marketing and Communications and a Chief Operating Officer.
The RFL is targeting individuals of the highest calibre who can help deliver the strategic objectives of Engage Super League and the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
The Director of Marketing and Communications will be based in Leeds and Manchester and will take ultimate responsibility for building the sport’s profile and maximising commercial performance, both for the governing body and its member clubs.
Supported by the RFL’s Commercial Director, the Director of Marketing and Communications will develop a successful external marketing and communications strategy which will further raise awareness of Rugby League.
Based in Leeds, the Chief Operating Officer will have vital input in strategic planning, business development and the overall management of the sport.
The role will also take responsibility for providing increased support to the RFL’s member clubs and developing and executing strategic initiatives that will deliver efficient and effective operational performance across the whole game.
Nigel Wood, the RFL’s Chief Executive, said: “Rugby League has made significant strides in the last few years and the time is now right to take the sport to the next level.
“These two appointments are crucial to achieving our aims of delivering improved services and revenues to, and on behalf of every member club, and running the most successful Rugby League World Cup.”
should be interesting.. whoever gets the job they have a lot of work to do!.. hope they get someone with real knowledge in the marketing field.

They aint had a COO before. Director of Marketing was that fella who branded Salford all pink, can't remember his name now, but a fairly non-descript fella. Never made an impact on me.

Bit of a one trick pony then. I wonder how many people associate Salford with the colour pink

D'oh people might not have picked up on that, and just asked questions like - What will he be doing?
