Listened to an interview with Ian Lenighan on GMR prior to tonights game.

Sounds like Wigan are going to try to tap in on their Greater Manchester location by specifically targetting the City of Manchester population.

Mention was made of the TV commercial, has anyone seen it?

Just because you think everyone hates you doesn't mean they don't.

Got a glimpse of it fans carrying rows of seats out of the ground - I presume it was a standing room only type line although I could well be wrong. Think they were pushing the Wire game.

Haven't got a problem with this kind of marketing even when many years ago Doug Laughton targetted Warrington for Widnes!! The cheek of it.

Liked one of the many Wire flags at Crusaders game today - "Wrexham branch of the Warrington club".

In the interview Mr Lenighan said as regards the TV advert "Behind it is a plan that says Wigan is part of Greater Manchester. Wigan should be able to draw fans of Rugby League from Manchester. I am aware of Salford obviously but they carry the name of the other City. As far as we are concerned we want Wigan to become an attraction to people who live in the Greater Manchester area as it is already in some of the areas of Manchester. But we are unashamedly starting an approach which says get spectators from that area."

Good move by the Wigan club.

It helped Bradford back in 1996 when we stole fans from Halifax, Leeds, Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley, Keighley etc.

Where have those fans gone now, back to their respective Clubs ? tongue.gif

Widnes - Super League's newest Club, and Cheshire's Original Glamour Club. Watch out Warrington, we're back !

Perhaps he could do a TV advert to sell his shares in Harlequins?
