When's it going to stop. There are too many times now where I 've thought that a thread looks good to read later to find out that the usual suspects have trashed it.
GROW UP
The little slanging matches that get personal are like something taken from the playground. If it is personal then don't spoil this splendid place to digress about RL, E-mail each other.
Some of you try to come across as articulate, educated on threads but actually become very personal to some people. If you can't be constructive in discussion without starting to slag each other off then.
CLEAR OFF
You are not wanted here.

I agree entirely. I've seen too many people lately trying to turn this forum into a replica of others out there that do tolerate abuse. Just because it's accepted elsewhere doesn't mean it will be accepted here.
A few people who have high post counts think they're invulnerable but all it will take is John Drake coming in to work and having a bad day for them to be booted along with the newer posters who can't take the hint.
Robust discussion is fine, personal abuse is not.
Edit: one point though, it's a rare thing that we get reported posts. Some people are quite good about it and are happy to hit the button*, other see it as "grassing" and won't do it regardless of how others are ruining threads. I'm having a quiet couple of weeks so have a bit of time to mess around on here during the day, apart from that though, it's a rare day when we moderators read everything, we rely on the forum to self-moderate and hit that "report" button when that doesn't work. As a point of note, I see the original post as part of the forum's self-moderation process.
* bottom left of every post, "! Report"
Edit2: Can't tell my left from my right these days

Completely agree. The list of threads is starting to look like a bloody spot the ball coupon down the left hand side.
On a couple of occasions on here I've come close to having a pop at somebody after receiving mild abuse but have decided it's better to shake your head and just leave as good a parting shot as you can without stooping to their level.

If any of that is aimed at me in that Richard Owen thread, I'll hold my hand up and offer my apologies. But at the same time the person who started that thread thinks it's ok to call fellow posters tarts and prats.

There's not enough discussion around the actual game on the paddock to keep this forum fresh. Consequently, we still have the same old arguments by the same old people year after year.

As well as Closing/Locking Threads, stronger moderation is required.

On other forums the mode view pushing the report button grassing never mind the posters. Rare I see a problem on here, had much worse elsewhere

I won't use the 'Ignore' button, as I need to see the board as a whole, even the ugly bits.
Report, yeah, fair enough, especially if it's your own thread being hi-jacked or it's hard to drag it back.

Swimming against the tide it seems - but I actually find some of the moderating a bit overzealous at times
I appreciate the need to censure for bad language, copyright, slander, libel, excessive aggression, etc - but lately humour and banter seem to becoming increasingly more taboo. I blame the Tories

Last time you replied to me you were so darn rude that I put you on ignore, and several people pulled you for it.

I once used the 'ignore' button but found you could still 'see' what someone wrote but not read it (if you see what I mean) and as such was too much of a temptation to not un-ignore and read.

It'd be nice if we could have a happy medium. I get grumbled at for letting things go too far, I get grumbled at for stopping abuse. For example, I got whined at last night for deleting a thread that was solely created to bitch, moan and whine that the forum is full of Wigan-supporting losers*, apparently deleting this was "censorship" and restricting the poster's rights to free speech.
Where we draw the line is when people lose all semblance of posting rationally and jump in with both feet on the side of abuse. It's a damnably rare thread that we lock that isn't way beyond the scope of acceptability. What you may not see on locked threads is the number of deleted posts and things that are hidden away.
* Admittedly they are a bit annoying and do snaffle all the pies before anyone else even gets a look in.

Cant we just ban Kenny Kenilworth for derailing the Richard Owen thread?

Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.
I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

As well as an 'Ignore' option I'd like an 'Invisible' option.
I reckon I could half the time it takes to go through the threads if they weren't cluttered up by messages from those I have on 'Ignore'.
