warrington have imo 5 good years in front of them on the park

i predicted at the start of the year a wire / wigan SL GF.

there just isnt any room to fit in any new fans when Wire make the GF, and down the track win it.

i believe in the build it and they will come thing too.

if the ground was bigger the crowds would be bigger.

but ignoring that, if you win the SL GF you will have missed the boat in extra crowds because the ground hasnt been upgraded

i feel clubs have 5 years at the top before the SC begins to allow others to rise to the top

its up to the club to get as many fans on board during the good years to build a long term sustainable club

and filling in the corners wouldnt be that expensive

your last paragraph is good to hear though
Other than when we are playing Wigan and Saints though, we always have space for more fans. These are the games we need to get more fans in for. If we could get an extra 1k in for the other games, this would be an extra 11k people through the turnstyles, which is better than extending and getting an extra couple of thousand for games like Wigan and Saints.

Personally I think we should be improving our base crowds first as this is where the money can be made without forking out cash, and only when you are selling out 4 or 5 games a year should you be looking to invest millions.

I dont necessarily agree with that - there are plenty fringe places in both Wigan (Lowton, Golborne and Ashton) and St. Helens (Earlestown, Newton and Haydock) where there is a mixed support for Wigan, Saints, Warrington and to a lesser extent in the Wigan area - Leigh. Warrington have the potential to attract more fans in these areas that arent part of the core of the towns.

Lowton and Golborne are in Leigh you cheeky sod wink.gif

When I was growing up in Leigh I don't know anyone in Leigh who supported Wire or Saints, though there were a few Wiganers who had migrated there (and started getting a bit cocky after 1985)

Indeed. Now if we could just get most of the other clubs to become as big failures as us, the league would be in pretty good shape.

Well done to the Wire says I. Hope you build on it.

Definitely disputed territory at best - having lived in both those towns I know a higher proportion of Wigan, Saints and Warrington fans who live there than Leigh supporters. Also Golborne (inc. Lowton) had its own district Council prior to 1974 so arguably is neutral in terms of Wigan and / or Leigh squabbles.

I know a couple of Wigan season ticket holders that live in enemy territory only a street away from your former home at Hilton Park. Makes me proud that we are invading. biggrin.gif
