This was purely for administrative purposes. North of the Manchester Ship Canal is Lancashire, south is Cheshire. That has never changed. And anyway, what's wrong with coming from Lancashire? He siad that they should forget about defo promoting one club and just make sure the best 14 teams are there This is a totally flawed argument because the teams in the Co-Op championship don't get the opportunity to get big crowds week in week out for at least 3-years, so cannot be equally compared to SL clubs. Also do we really want to restrict the number of towns to 14 who can ever have aspirations? Also someone needs to explain the "chicken and egg" situation to everyone on sky and at the RFL. People will not watch RL in numbers much great than 1-2k if there is no definite route to promotion on-the-pitch Also investors will not come in unless there is a guaranteed route. What happens if two clubs were meeting the criteria at the moment? In reality the RFL shoudl put both up BUT they will not. Therefore this puts off fans and investors The RFL has just layed out some criteria, so why not modify it to say that the highest placed club who wins the most things AND meets the other criteria then defo goes up agreed just because somebody can play the game doesnt mean they have a clue whats good for the sport as a whole widnes in SL will get bigger crowds than at least 2 current heartland teams plus if clubs from outside SL are excluded then there is no reason for these clubs to improve, nor for clubs like cas or wakey to improve either wakey being relegated for widnes will be a very good thing for the game Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It should not be the anthem for GB&I anyway well said.. he isnt an irish republican as such, he is just simply Irish and playing for Great Britain and Ireland.. he isnt taking the Queens shilling he was playing for the representative team of Great Britain and Ireland the fact the athem is wrong and insulting to anyone from ireland (ignoring the other arguments as you post above, which i would tend to agree with) is more the point than his quite obvious and understandable refusal to sing it. He said the RFL made a mistake in guarenteeing a place to the club in the championship... i agree personally... His point being that thy made abit of a rod for their own back and that IF there werent better clubs applying then they could be getting rid of a strong club for a weaker club.. his point is a bit out dated as there will be a better club applying than in the league but IMO it is a fair point, there should be no guarentees and that inclkudes for super league clubs.. which IMO is the point he was making.. he was saying that all clubs from the Super League should apply as should AS MANY AS POSSIBLE from below that, anyone who is interested basically. And the top 14 (in this case) should be in no matter where they are playing at the moment. so his point is that the best teams should be int he super league, i dont see anything wrong with that. How many clubs you have included depends not on the money but how you share it. You can go for a 10 club ultrasuper league, or a 20 club all inclusive league. Or do we ignore anything pre-1996? 1996. The top 12 teams in the old division would be going to creating a new super league. Fev finished 12th that season but were dropped to make way for a team from Paris. That worked out well then Promotion and relegation should be brought back, its about the team,the way they've played all season,not about the shiny new stadium that a team has! One question that should be asked is, would we as rugby fans rather be comfortable in a new stadium and watch the same teams winning all the time, with the stronger teams getting stronger and the weaker teams getting weaker or watch good rugby with two teams playing with pride and passion because they deserve to be in that league not because they have a better capacity that someone else. am i bovvered Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
