i honestly think this is a joke to super league and rugby as a sport if only the RFL will get the fact that wales or london doesnt want rugby league where as the heartland countys do. to chuck out a team like wakefield or castleford when these two have just had an attendence like this is a joke to super league

Crusaders total home attendances have broken last years already with still two home games to go. I would say that was a positive step in the right direction. With HKR and Saints good away support there total will be well up.

You do realise it was played in Neath right?

Please improve your grammar, capital letters go at the beginning of sentences and full stops go at the end.

Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

This is an Internet forum , not The Times. Style, grammar, puncuation, speeling etc are not that important, in my opinion, as long as the meaning is clear. However, a bit of knowledge, some research and a smattering of intellecutal rigour would not go amis. There is no shortage, though, of peer review, as nath155 has just witnessed.

Nil, mainly because they wouldn't be daft enough to do it, and certainly not at 6pm on a weekday evening........

Aye but decent punctuation helps make the meaning clear. Thats it purpose, innit?

TBF, it was a re-arranged game or something wasn't it?

Yes, but 6pm on a workday seems a strange time to rearrange it for IMO. Not the best bit of planning I've ever seen.

Cos you've got a job? ;)

There are rumours flying about that it is an attempt to justify not playing any more fixtures in Neath by making them unviable.

I don't know of any truth behind that theory, it's probably wild guesses.

Fair enough. Playing in south wales was a promise kept when the club changed hands. Should we have forfeited on that promise? Either way whats done is done and i agree that next year needs the club to play a decent regular slot, every two weeks in wrexham alone.

Funny that statement - there seems to be hundreds of kids and adults all taking to the game and playing it in Wales and london.

As a sport it's starting to take off nicely.

Usual attack on a low crowds as proof M62 should have the game to itself despite rubbish crowds along the M62 as well.........

Can I ask how you come to the conclusion that Wales and London don't want Rugby League? Have you asked anyone in those places, maybe done some research? Or are you simply basing it on last nights attendance?

The Crusaders club has only been going for 5 seasons, during which time they have had to change location. Last nights game was played, for whatever reason, in Neath some 130 miles away from their home. The attendance was always going to be low. Lets judge them on next season when, I assume, they'll play all their games at Wrexham.

Harlequins are a victim of short-term management and under funding, not lack of interest. The London club moving grounds all over the capital, coupled with the adaption of a Rugby Union linked identity have not helped either. And of course, they are running bottom of the table.

The development of the game at junior level in both London and Wales has been astounding. Wales can now match England at junior level, and success will attract more youngsters into the game. The potential for development in London is endless, as shown in the young lads coming through the ranks at the Quins. How many local lads play for Wakefield?

You mention heartland clubs, but surely by your own criteria Salford are a joke. They've had over 120 years to build interest in RL, and yet they struggle on crowds of 4,000 or so. Wakefield themselves have only recently started to build attendance. In 2006 they were getting gates as low as 3,000. Was that because there was a lack of interest in RL in the city?

I suspect, as with so many people on here who are quick to point the finger at expansion teams, this is all boils down to self-interest. Let's throw out the interlopers so we can keep RL a 'northern' sport so it can remain like it's always been. So long as my club can get into SL, I'm alright. Never mind the consequences for the long term future of the sport. Small clubs who have had over a century of support, money and most importantly time, to build a strong business but who, for the most part, have failed.

And then there's this notion of the 'heartland county's'. That'll be West Yorkshire, Hull, West Cumbria and parts of South Lancashire. The rest of Lancashire couldn't care less about the sport.

But people choose to overlook all that, and decide to pick on the newcomers. The easy targets. If people had spent more time over the years questioning the failings of the 'heartland' clubs, the sport might just of progressed a bit further at professional level than it has.

Pfft. I don't know what the attendance was at the Galpharm today but one stand running the length of the pitch was totally empty! This for a Challenge Cup semi final too. We should kick Leeds and Saints out of Super League if they can't do better than this.

If this was Salford Wakefield Cas Huddersfield we would never hear the last of it

Couldn't agree more, crazy time to play, I presume the RFL have to agree to it or are clubs free to kick off at any time they please with no parameters at all?

Really??

Why don't they take that many to Saints, Wire or Wigan then?
