Congratulations to my team Featherstone Rovers on winning the Championship Minor Premiership. Just two defeats both by two points and a 100% away record in a season's work is pretty remarkable.
In your opinion does such a feat deserve a tick in a SL box or is winning the Northern Rail Cup Final a bigger and better achievement? And yes I know what the rules were at the start of the season, but do they need amending to include the minor premiership.

As you well know Terry, Featherstone has never struggled to attract ticks.

Never realised this but winning the league should of course mean a box ticked. It's arguably the hardest of them all.
Well done Fev, very well deserved victory.

(1) Well done.
(2) Yes, the rules do need amending (but I bet they're not!).

Yes Terry, that would make a lot of sense. It's bigger than winning the NR Cup.
We'll just have to get ourselves to the Grand Final, won't we?

It doesn't matter, Fev are not welcome at the top table.
Oops, Edit to add, Well done, good performance through the full season.

I believe the Northen Rail winners "tick" was added to keep the sponsers happy. Most Championship clubs were starting to use the competition as a glorified pre-season warm up (which is what is still is in my eyes).
IMO any Championship club who finish in the top six every year for each 3-year period, should be allowed to apply for a franchise. The bonus point system makes a mockery of league placings anyway!

It may warrant a tick. That's debatable However, I would imagine that every team that has topped the table in the division below Super League has made the GF in the last decade or so anyway. So what's the problem?
Fev have been excellent this year BTW.

Big well done to the boys and all at the club.
Personally I reckon winning the NRC should allow a tick. Perhaps the better option would be to also give one to the league winners and the winners of the GF, and not to the runners up, although I like Cruncher's idea of any team that has been in the top 6 for all 3 years being able to apply.

Obviously the Co-op Championship table topper should 'tick' the box but unfortunately I don't think Fev, 'Fax or Batley will get a licence in 2012 due to West Yorks...

It should deserve a tick Terry, but we could have a thousand ticks and they wont let us in, i came to terms with this a few years since and just enjoy watching Rovers, its not a sport anymore its a franchise. If thats the way the rulers think is the way for us to beat the Aussies then its there call.
Just a point to add the franchise system was supposed to help us beat the Aussies, well in 95 just before Fev were kicked out of the top flight we played a challenge cup semi with Leeds at Elland Road, there was 19k there and believe me plenty of Rovers, we had also just lost the ashes in fact the last home series before that we were 2 mins from winning them. 15 years later 2 of the top 4 teams play a semi in front of 15k and we are light years from beating the Aussies. Has it worked and was it worth it, like hellll it was

Went to the game today good game Batley had it in the bag at 28 26 but ill discipline and silly mistakes cost them
Batley scored a good try very early in the first half only Mr Laughton has the answer to why play was pulled back 80 yards and the resulting scrum being a Batley head awful referring
Well done Fev

Not only Mr Laughton: the Batley player knocked on before gathering the ball - 1st offence was by Fev, hence head and feed to Batley.
