Hi Everyone, first let me say how much I enjoyed the game on Sunday (and not just because we won) After reading your board over the last few games I never expected such a great performance from your boys, i thought they played really well.

I have just had a very intriuging text, It said that Swinton will be ground sharing with Salford next season, the reason was Sedgley Park want £60K for you to play there next year. Have any of you guys heard anything? My source is usualy very good, but he could be winding me up.

Kind Regards

The Baron

Unfortunately there is a real lack of Championship standard stadia in northern and western Manchester - there is probably only Old Trafford and The Willows inside the M60 west of the Irwell that achieve this - and the first of those isn't going to be an option! (maybe also Longford Park, Stretford, but too far away to the south...)

Outside the M60 there are a couple more choices, although that isn't to say they'd want rugby league played there, or that it would be a preferred option for fans:

Radcliffe Borough - decent ground, but with similar access issues from M27 as Sedgley
Crilly Park, Atherton LR - easy to get to on the train from M27; better condition than Oldham's Whitebank facility, but now also has Horwich-Leigh-RMI-Genesis, or whatever they are called this week, as a tennant

Obviously these are maybe "less worse" suggestions than the Willows, rather than a solution that is desirable for fans anxious to come home.
disques vogue

The club where Eurovision isn't a dirty word. A waltz through the leopard skin lined world of Tom Jones, Bert Kampfert and Burt Bacharach. Step out to the sound of the happy hammond and swing to the seductive sounds of the samba.

DJ's, raffles, cocktails and wide collars. Please dress smart. Gentlemen might like to wear a suit.

Same price. Same music. Same rubbish prizes.

Now what makes you bring up that old chestnut.

As for going to watch Swinton at the willows...if you are a supporter you'll watch your team anywhere, just as a matter of interest how many games have you been to this or last season!

I have no doubt that if the Willows is an option (and i don't like the idea) Spelly along with many other of the diehards wil go to watch the lads.

I agree with Marshy, I cannot see why one would not go the the Willows to watch Swinton, in mu College and University days even played in a couple of finals at the Willows.

I think not going would be a case of cutting one's nose of as it were..........now a move away from the Manchester area would be different thing however.

As I understand it the willows is earmarked for nurses accomadation once Salford have moved to Barton therefore Swinton Lions playing there could only be a short term solution. If it was for one season till Agecroft was made fit for purpose then I dont see a problem however if it transpired that we were considering moving to Barton as im sure the council would like then it would probably signal the death knell of the club. There are fans who will not watch the team at the willows anyway whether that is right or wrong is up to them.I can see another meeting behind the main stand at the gateshead game unless something is forthcoming from the club.

Mark some how Julian has got it into his head that a rumour connecting the club with thw Willows means we are once again destined for Darwin!!

I agree that the club do need to inform us but reading the Rochdale forum it seems there fans are lacking information from the club as well.

its a shame whats happening with clubs like swinton and oldham before them.swinton have proud history some one with cash to invest could make a real go at it may be even move to the reebox stadium and a push for super league.

i think the club should make a statement about where we will be playing next season, surely the club must realise that not informing the fans about the club and the goings on just leads to speculation/chinese whispers, i hold my hands up i am one of the speculators but until the information and quality of it come out of the club ie, where we will be playing next season, progress towards a new ground in M27 (TILL I DIE), state of the finances ???, community development in m27, lack of information on website (perhaps a weekly email to fans about the club will help) , i could go on. as for an earlier comment about me attending matches i am unable to do so as i suffer with ill health which prevents me from attending now but i have the best interests of swinton rlfc at heart and whats happening to our once great club is breaking my heart, until things change drastically i fear for our future.

ps i heard i chinese whisper that salford city footy ground is in the running.

All the rumours rearing there ugly heads again. From imformation i have recieved i believe we will shortly be hearing some very good news, but i am not going to comment on this until the imfo is fact. All i will say is that the imfo as raised my spirits and i am keeping my fingers crossed that they are true. So please hang fire one way or another we will soon know the outcome and if it is true it will certainly put a stop to the doom and gloom hanging over our club.
