Bill Arthur made a most valid point in that out of the last seven Grand Finals in both the Championship and Championship One, not one side finishing third or below has been in the showpiece event.

The longer it is since the improbable happened then the closer it is to the improbable happening.

Well done Widnes on a good win and after backing up after a match in the French heat. Also pleasing to see a player who has come through the Widnes's Youth Development Scheme being awarded Man of the Match.

Didn't Swinton finish 4th in 06 when they made the final, after a golden point semi-final win against Celtic?

Widnes did well and deserved the points but do the sheffield players have an inability to learn from mistakes.. ball bounces in goal.. fumble fumble.. STICK YOUR FOOT THROUGH IT!!!!! and keep hold of the ruddy ball around the goal line.. try repeat sets etc.. so frustrating to watch as an eagles fan..
