"I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, it's only fair after last year isn't it? Look Neil, just for you, I've put my best Rovers' tie on today in the hope it'll go some way to make up for it. Oh, by the way, Jon sends his regards."

You think you need a nap! I'm two hours ahead of you. That lot starts at 11pm and it's a bummer trying to record off the internet stream - every time it goes down you have to reset. Arrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!

Excellent. Isn't 'The Game That Got Away' some vintage 1969 documentary about RL? If so, that could be amusing - some plummy-voiced BBC reporter type and lots of union lies.
Don't think I've ever seen the 1978 CC Final, so that's a must as well.
My housemates can do one if they think they're watching owt on TV on Monday

It's supposed to be a Wigan player who breaks the hero's teeth (although it's actually Derek Turner) Some of the match scenes are from a game between Wakey and Wigan. Most of the RL content was filmed at Belle Vue but there's a section that was filmed at Thrum Hall.

She was on about herself mate
A lot of Yorkshiremen believe that when God created the world, he made it with perfect balance.
He balanced the hot areas with the cold areas. the dry areas with the wet areas.
And, in creating Yorkshire, he created the most glorious place on earth - full of majestic beauty and sporting giants.........and for balance he created....... Lancashire.

Whilst I welcome any RL on any channel at any time, aren't these programmes just a bit... er... backward looking?
Anyone non Treizeist casually flicking in twixt 9 and half 1 might have their prejudices reinforced.
Not a gripe, just a thought.

It's all part of BBC4's season of programmes about 'The North'. A slightly patronising idea in itself, typically viewed from a southern perspective. At times you'd think the North was a different country. I'm surprised they haven't sent David Attenborough up to study us.
And although I'll be watching tonight, only the BBC could come up with a RL night which includes a documentary from 1969, a programme about a commentator largely associated with the 70s, a film from 1963 and the CC Final from 1978. Real contemporary stuff.
