indomitable
According to the Guardian, Orford is seeking release from his current contract to play for Canberra. As yet the Bulls haven't signed any cover for half backs, and if the report is true, and usually The Guardian has got its facts right! Then the club will be really struggling. Presume the main hope will be obtaining an overseas coverage with the space left by Orford, I am sure the Bulls are well aware of the situation, and forcing Orford to honour his contract isn't going to help if he doesn't want to play for the Bulls anymore. If Orford seeking a release allows us to sign Price and /or Fielding, it will make far more difference to selling season tickets than him seeing out his contract. I am still a fan of Orford, but I felt from the start that we had placed a lot of eggs in one basket.
Wolford6
He's no pace and, though a very skilfull player, his kicking from hand was no better than Paul Sykes' has been in his absence. (Honestly!) For me, it's more of a problem if he stays against his will, picking up a mega salary every week that could go to someone happy to be at Odsal. When signing Aussies, some you win, some you lose. Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police
scotthouston2008
his kicking was poor yes but he won us some games single handedly, a la wigan at home. we have no other player like that and you need a player like that. Sign a replacement, if not, make him stay or face another season without playoff football.

ParisSurtout
I predicted his departure months ago, even though I didn't know about Canberra at first: Matt Orford wants to go home to Australia. Parramatta are interested. http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-...0721-10l51.html What hope will Bradford have of being a top six contender if it lacks a quality scrum half? Mick Potter is walking into a very difficult situation. As expected, it was flatly denied by some of the usual suspects. He's going nowhere. He has two years left on his contract. No one is going to pay us silly money to release him. Does he? Does he really? Show me ANYWHERE where Matt Orford is quoted as saying that. Anywhere. A day later I revealed that Canberra was interested: This story now really has some legs. With Kimmorley likely to follow Barrett into retirement, it seems that Canberra are now also interested in Matt Orford. The other news is that Orford is in dispute with Bradford! http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl...r-1225895857488 Edited September 7, 2010 by ParisSurtout Le rugby a treize, c'est moi! _____ ______________________________________________________
ParisSurtout
But some of the Bradford faithful just could not face the awful truth: So on the one hand we have idle newspaper speculation in Aus, and on the other we have a direct quote from the chairman of the club Ox is contracted to. Just done a bit of digging, and I've found this quote from the man himself. Orford going nowhere Couple that with the fact he tried to play on, and did play in the CC game against Wire, with three muscle tears in his shoulder and a dislocation, and it looks to me that he has a lot of pride in playing for the Bulls. ParisSurtout
Canberra fans are excited about the prospects of having Matt Orford there. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl...r-1225895857488 I would like to know what the dispute is between Orford and Bradford. Well, it may well be to do with the following pictures. BroncoFan
It's not a problem at all, just release him and move on. Everything under the sun is in tune But the sun is eclipsed by the moon
scotthouston2008
It's not a problem at all, just release him and move on. if they didn't replace him with someone quality.......it would be a problem! although there was other factors, compare bradfords first half of the season with him and second half without him
The Future is League
It's not a problem at all, just release him and move on. and don't sign any more overseas players.
ParisSurtout
It will be impossible to replace Orford with someone of comparable quality. Quality scrum halves are as scarce as hen's teeth. When Catalans went looking they came up with a Newcastle reserve half, Scott Dureau.
