According to the Guardian, Orford is seeking release from his current contract to play for Canberra. As yet the Bulls haven't signed any cover for half backs, and if the report is true, and usually The Guardian has got its facts right! Then the club will be really struggling.
Presume the main hope will be obtaining an overseas coverage with the space left by Orford, I am sure the Bulls are well aware of the situation, and forcing Orford to honour his contract isn't going to help if he doesn't want to play for the Bulls anymore.

If Orford seeking a release allows us to sign Price and /or Fielding, it will make far more difference to selling season tickets than him seeing out his contract.
I am still a fan of Orford, but I felt from the start that we had placed a lot of eggs in one basket.

He's no pace and, though a very skilfull player, his kicking from hand was no better than Paul Sykes' has been in his absence. (Honestly!)
For me, it's more of a problem if he stays against his will, picking up a mega salary every week that could go to someone happy to be at Odsal.
When signing Aussies, some you win, some you lose.

his kicking was poor yes but he won us some games single handedly, a la wigan at home.
we have no other player like that and you need a player like that.
Sign a replacement, if not, make him stay or face another season without playoff football.

Making him stay will never work,if he doesn't want to play for bulls he won't. Bulls may force him onto the field in a shirt, but he won't play.

I predicted his departure months ago, even though I didn't know about Canberra at first:
As expected, it was flatly denied by some of the usual suspects.

A day later I revealed that Canberra was interested:

Matt Orford wants to go home to Australia.
Parramatta are interested.

What hope will Bradford have of being a top six contender if it lacks a quality scrum half?
Mick Potter is walking into a very difficult situation.

This story now really has some legs.
With Kimmorley likely to follow Barrett into retirement, it seems that Canberra are now also interested in Matt Orford.
The other news is that Orford is in dispute with Bradford!

But some of the Bradford faithful just could not face the awful truth:
QUOTE (PC @ Jul 23 2010, 02:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So on the one hand we have idle newspaper speculation in Aus, and on the other we have a direct quote from the chairman of the club Ox is contracted to. Just done a bit of digging, and I've found this quote from the man himself.
Orford going nowhere
Couple that with the fact he tried to play on, and did play in the CC game against Wire, with three muscle tears in his shoulder and a dislocation, and it looks to me that he has a lot of pride in playing for the Bulls.

It's not a problem at all, just release him and move on.

if they didn't replace him with someone quality.......it would be a problem!
although there was other factors, compare bradfords first half of the season with him and second half without him

It will be impossible to replace Orford with someone of comparable quality. Quality scrum halves are as scarce as hen's teeth. When Catalans went looking they came up with a Newcastle reserve half, Scott Dureau.

Another Aussie who listen to sycophants like Parisurtout and come over thinking Super League is a walk in the park. They soon find out that its not and ###### off home with their tail between their legs. No doubt he will walk into an NRL team with a nice long contract.

what do you mean "you predicted" and "you revealed".. you quoted articles in papers that predicted.. you just regurgetated someone else's musings.. stop claiming someone else's thoughts as your own.
BTW this is just another report.. not a done deal yet.. and i dont really care either way if he stays or goes not even bothered if bradford finnished bottom for next few years as dont support them..
your like the sun.. come out with enough "stories"/"exclusives" and some will turn out to be true.

I had faith in my sources. And I have turned out to be right, or so it seems.
But who knows? Maybe Orford will have second thoughts, and have a guilty conscience, after realising the damage that he has caused to the Bradford Bulls club and their suffering fans.

For the record, I don't think Orford will be at Bradford next season, but just to add some perspective on this being the "final word" on this story - the last time The Guardian ran a something about next season at the Bulls, it was to say Brian McDermott was to be announced as head coach in the next few days.

your "sources" are papers for christs sake.. you werent "breaking news stories" you werent "predicting" you werent "revealing" you were just linking to someone elses predictions and revelations and now claiming them as some sort of great work by you.. you havent turned out to be right as there has been no deal done and even if a deal is done YOU werent right the journalists that wrote the articles were.

We already have. Whilst he's gone well so far, he's blatently not ready for week-in, week-out Super League action just yet.

Bradford Bulls star Matt Orford has rubbished reports he is unhappy in England and insists he is not ready to leave.
Orford, who joined the Bulls from Manly Sea Eagles, will return soon return to the UK after successful shoulder surgery and he has set his sights on winning silverware with Bradford before even thinking about going home.
Reports in newspapers back in Sydney claimed the 32-year-old was homesick and had instructed his manager to persuade Bradford to release him from his three-year contract.
And with news that his manager, George Mimis, was on his way to England, this fuelled the rumours that the two were set for showdown talks with Bulls coach Lee St Hilaire.
Orford has now told the Footy Show: “They’re complete rumours. My manager’s not making a special trip for me, he’s doing his UK trip for his Aussie players based over here. That’s the Sydney media for you.
“I’m still contracted for another couple of years and I enjoyed it over there, it was cold but fun.
it’s never nice watching your team play, it’s pretty hard, but once you get back playing and into the routine of things, you’re fine.
""I've been talking to the new coach and fair dinkum I cant wait to rip into a good pre-season. It will be the first in a long while when im not carrying injury."
