There aren't enough actual rugby threads on this forum so on the eve on the playoffs I thought I'd start a proper one.

It's probably the hardest to call season I can remember. Of the contenders,

The team that are league leaders haven't won a competition since 2002.

St Helens don't seem to be quite as on fire as they have been in previous seasons.

The team in 3rd have just emphatically won the Cup but have a voodoo against saints.

Current champions Leeds have only managed 4th and got outclassed in the Cup final against Wire.

My heart wants Wigan to win but I have a feeling about Wire at the moment. They have the form and now have performed in 2 big finals. I think the Saints voodoo is a matter of time and I actually think it will go tomorrow. Wigan, whilst the most consistent still don't seem to have the beating of the other big sides.

Wigan.......great all year, and the fans don't expect to win :O a season too early

Saints....... form team coming into the play offs, plenty of injuries

Wires....... best league finish in SL, full squad

Leeds....... 3 GF's on the trot, can't play 3 games on the trot as bad as they have been recently (wires / FC)

Hudds...... also form team coming into the play offs, pack not good enough

FC.......... sorry guys, your final is saturday, you'll win, but thats your lot.

KR.......... not bothered

Crusaders.. made up they made the play offs, said they would all season, hope they beat Hudds.

Heart and head says Wires, but i have said this all season. :D

After years of bottling, not good enough or just a joke, THIS IS IT!

All depends what happens on Friday in the big match. I cant see Wire winning on Friday then possibly beating Saints again in tow weeks to play Wigan in the GF.

Hudds may be an outside bet to make the play offs interesting from outside the top 4.

i think wire will end up as champions...

"Why is Napoleon crying ?" said one sailor to the other, "poor ###### thinks he's being exiled to st helens" came the reply.

If we face Saints once only, maybe, but in all likely hood we'll have to play them twice, which I think will be once too often.

Wigan v Saints final, Wigan to win it.

Wires record breaking 10 match run: L 16-17 ; L 34-36 ; L 24-44 ; L 20-38 ; L 8-46; L 14-26 ; L 20-40 ; L 22-48 ; L 14-20 ; L 8-60. Thanks Jimmy.The Glamour Club. Apparently.

Captain Morgan Trophy Holders.(I still think we have the British Coal 9's trophy hidden somewhere, too...)

Ooooh, the Challenge Cup!!! Thank you Tony.....

Wigan are the League Champions. Who will win the Premiership, hopefully Wigan because in this nonsensical marketing gimmick we tolerate I always hope the League Champions whomever they are also win at Old Trafford.

To be fair this time I would prefer Wigan over Saints to be champions, but as you know Leeds have won the GF three times on the bounce and for most of them seasons Saints have been the best team in the SL.

What a bore.

The playoffs are far superior to the league system.

I think Wigan will win it but if Warrington play the same form as they had at the Challenge Cup Final then they're a huge contender. I guess the only teams in a shot are Wigan, Wires & St Helens. Leeds have no chance in hell.

As per other posts on other threads, I don't necessarily disagree that Wigan won't win the GF. However I must pick you up on this point which is a myth - Wigan have played the other so-called big four teams in SL (Leeds, Saints and Wire) six times this season and have won four, including all away games - I'd suggest your theory is a little wide of the mark. Wigan are prone to a shock defeat and a dip in form at the wrong time, but can also beat anyone in the league when on form and should fear no-one.

No-one apart from Wigan fans will remember who was League Leaders in 2010, rightly or wrongly the most consistent side over the course of the season can fail to win GF due to bad luck with injuries, other teams timing their form right or one off flukes and therefore not be considered the best side (see Leeds / Saints for two of the past three years).

What a crock! Can RL fans get any more negative? St Helens minus Longy & Eastmond have no chance of the SL Grand Final & neither do Leeds, Crusaders or Hull KR so RL fans need to buck up their ideas. So what if Wigan have fluffed it in recent years? They have a real chance of winning the brass varse. I still think only Wires are good enough to spoil Wigan party.
