Manchester is a great city ,but[theres always a but] last year my wifes american cousin came over from the states on business and she commented that what she saw of Manchest purely by passing by through the station on the train from the airport she said it looked "rather unsightly not very attractive".
I told her what she saw from the train window is not a true reflection

I haven't done a scientific study of it, but I think a lot of cities suffer from this. The railway lines seem to pass through some of the least salubrious districts as they approach the city centre, and Manchester's railway lines certainly do. To be fair, though, a bit further out from the centre, they pass through some much more pleasant districts.

Heaton Chapel.

Rail line to city centre.
Near M60 motorway.
Decent pubs, bars, restaurants.
Parks and general greenery.
Technically in Stockport = cheaper council tax.

All other decent areas of Gr Manchester (Didsbury, Hale, Chorlton) are round the SW side of the conurbation, unless you go for the City Centre.

I think you might have a lot to thank the lesbians of Lancashire for there! They have made Hebden Bridge a relatively modern and civilised place that stands out like a sore thumb amidst the savagery and backwardness of the rest of Yorkshire laugh.gif

Yes, even our lesbians are stunning looking. Those big Lancashire bull dykes in dungarees and sensible shoes can't keep away from the place.
