Jon Hamer.
So he says - "You're not a real fishmonger, you've just done a plop in the wrong lavatory..."

Tommy Martyn for mine.
Super League the only place in the world where people still believe that less competitors and a closed market to new competition will improve the quality of the product.
Even the Chinese and the Cubans gave up on these marxist principles years ago.
SL with a reduced number of competitors and a closed market = North Korea.

I wouldn't count playing for England between 2002 and 2007 when GB were also up and running. They were hardly first team caps.

Got to be another vote for Tommy Martyn, an absolute joy to watch. He would've troubled the Aussies too.
"surely they've got to try somthing different now, maybe the little chip over the top?2

Yes, it was nothing short of criminal that the Long/Martyn combination that was destroying superleague wasn't the first choice for GB. Andy Badway's the man to blame, I believe.

Probably a bit like Lee Briers, I think Martyn always had some pretty big flaws in his game, although he could also do some brilliant stuff (again similar to Briers).
He always used to try that 'Cumberland Throw' type tackle (or whatever it was called) and often players used to just knock him off and make him look silly.
That said, I would have given Martyn a go, just like I would have given Briers a proper run. When these two players were running around SL, the GB team were playing with a team full of loose forwards, with the likes of Farrell and Sculthorpe at 6. Another problem was that even when we did go with a proper 6 ie. Briers one cap, Farrell was such a dominant player that he played as the main pivot, which IMHO left the team short of balance. I loved Farrell, and wont have a bad word said against him, but I don't believe he was used in the most effective manner at test level, despite IMO never having a bad game for his country.
How Long got so many chances ahead of Martyn and Briers is a mystery to me.
