I have just received an e mail from the RFL about the Magic Weekend in Cardiff.
On the website is an item'Special Hotel rates for Magic Weekend'.Going into this link I looked at one hotel that looked OK and the 'special rate' for the Saturday night is 33% higher than a normal night.
I don't think that ripping off visitors to this extent is the way to get supporters to attend the weekend.

It's not ripping off, it's supply and demand. There are a limited number of places and so you sell those at maximum profit you can obtain. The 'normal' weekend, may actually be a loss making or break even price for the hotel. Who actually only turn a profit on the more busy weekends such as 6 nations weekends, christmas etc.
A bit like plane companies which make no profit over the winter, but make enough during the summer to turn a profit for the year.
Supply and demand rule the price of everything in life. It would be remis of a business not to try and gain maximum revenue for itself and it's employees.
The hotel will not want to lose guests and you may well say that you will not pay that price. But if the hotel has judged the market well it will still be full of the people willing to pay the extra 33%.
You can buy Christmas cards all year, but they will be most expensive in the run up when demand is high, buy them the week after christmas they will be half the price if not less.
Super League the only place in the world where people still believe that less competitors and a closed market to new competition will improve the quality of the product.
Even the Chinese and the Cubans gave up on these marxist principles years ago.
SL with a reduced number of competitors and a closed market = North Korea.
