I note the NRL fixtures are out today and I wonder why it is that OUR franchised league cannot complete the 2011 draw in a similar timeframe.
Perhaps this will be drawn up on the back of an empty beer bottle once our officials have had a jolly time down under - More jolly than England's team and fans will have - but hey - it's the performance that matters not the result...
I'm afraid it's yet another way in which the NRL lands a king-hit on Super League sad.gif

I was sat on the Underground train, and there was a girl looking at me. She was pretty good looking, too, I thought, "something's wrong here - girls as hot as that don't take an interest in me".
Then she came over and said - in a really strong Cockney acent - "excuse me, are you Sam Tomkins?".
She asked me for my autograph, and I was made up...until she asked me to make it out to her boyfriend. I was gutted, I thought she wanted my number

Sam Tomkins - Rugby League Week 14.03.12

After we were well beaten by South Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2010, a coupl;e of kids maybe eight or nine years old took their Wests Tigers jerseys off as I was walking off the field and threw them at me. "What's this" I said "You can have the jersey" one of them said "we don't go for West Tigers anymore". Then they ran back to their parents who were laughing. That was difficult to take, having kids who look up to you do that. I just dropped the jerseys on the ground and kept walking. It's not like we go out and lose by 50 points on purpose

This gives the likes of Lewis and Fat Boy something to do on the flight over to Sydney in a few weeks.

When's the Magic Weekend draw anyone?

You mean they are not going with the rest of the squad tomorrow to New Zealand!!!!
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

I always thought the Super League fixtures were made well in advance, handed to clubs to approve and they are released much closer to the start of the season.

I don't see the problem in announcing it later than the NRL.

Cummins Out.

Normally announced in Novemeber on the Monday after the last international IIRC. The RFL like to keep the focus on the international season, unlike the selfish NRL.

Gives us some more column spaces in the off-season as well.

The NRL list is just the draw of fixtures. Dates, times and venues don't get announced 'til much later on. When the RFL announce the fixtures, the first half of the season has dates and times including those for Sky matches.

I know the rfl can't operate just for my benefit, but I want to book flights to the UK sometime in June. It isn't vitally important which two weeks I'm there for, but I would like to plan my visit to maximise the games I take in. Flights are cheap at the moment, but by November, may well cost me significantly more.

I take the point about the season not being over until after the internationals, but surely that's not a major issue.
