I think people will be bothered, because thats why this thread as been put one, and all those in the know might not have been told or asked to say nothing yet, but saying that went passed the other day and it looked like nothing was being done.

Would be nice to here something and you would think to add some positive feeling after the final it would help to entice in more season ticket holders for next season.

Its a sad indictment of our club that info on ground developments has to come from an "outsider/Chemic"...No offence...
For me, some sort of tier system on the side stand is a must. For the "big" games last year, when a thousand turned up, the side stand was full, and folk had to filter round behind the posts. With anything over a thousand there, viewing becomes limited. I have to say, I may pick my games next year, in that I may well not attend the bigger games cos I know I won't be able to see properly anyway.
Get it sorted...!

Heard over the weekend that the cost of providing very basic (maybe not full) terracing and cover on the standing side at Whitebank is only £4,000 (seems low to me, but that was the figure quoted), and the club have said that they can't afford it! How pathetic is that. And before anyone starts on about being negative and not believing rumours, what else have we got to go on but rumours, the club has more secrets than MI5 and treats its customers (us speccies) appallingly. We pick up more (and earlier) off other clubs' message boards than from our own club. So, no ground improvements, and a massive hike in season ticket and match day ticket prices. What a way to run a club!

I also heard a whisper(Newspaper article) that the football side were "on the move" and had to play a "Home" fixture away recently...and heres me thinking we were the guests privelidged to share the facilities. If it turns out the footy lads were ousted,(though I have no info stating they have been),That, for me .would be unacceptable.
However the dearth of any information is Situation Normal at ORLFC.

I'm sure their was a story running , not that long back, that the football club were looking at a brand new facility of their own, in Hollinwood.
It seems more likely that they have chosen to move on, rather than them being ousted.
I'm generally a "cups half full" kind of guy where the club is concerned. However, if that fugure for some basic cover from the elements is correct, and the club won't shell out a megre £4k for the work, then I won't be going exposing my self to Oldhams weather...I shall be picking my games, according to the weather forecast, especially early in the season....
If the club can't afford the money to keep 400-500 people dry, I certainly can't afford to miss work through pneumonia????
Some ground news on the "ground news" page might be appropriate...!

That does sound very cheap to provide the facilities you have mentioned. I'm sure the club would have found the money from somewhere, the RFL stadium trust fund for example.

In fairness to the club I can't see that being right - perhaps the problem with the lease has not been sorted yet? I'm pretty sure that Rugby Oldham would be prepared to raise that much if it meant cover and an improved viewing platform for supporters.

I would be suprised at a figure of £4k, surely £40k would be nearer, and that is more understandable saying it cannot be afforded.
I have an email from the RFL regarding ground works, this was before the Grand Final last season:
Just to confirm that once a Club has RFL approval that its ground meets minimum standards, it is then entitled to play at either division of the Championship competition

The simple fact is that if you stand on halfway opposite the dugout, and you are one back and it rains...you can forget the match due to the front row brollies...In the dry one back you cannot see the corners and im 6
foot tall, hence I expected there to be both an urgent and transparent end of season forward planning gathering with Rugby Oldham ( who have clearly stated their desire to assist in ground development subject to some common sense questions being answered) to address some basic shortcomings at Whitebank as a matter of both urgency and compliance re RFL who cut us massive slack last year.
I know what the problem is, its all so obvious when one thinks about it...Its me...Im Naive regarding the way things are done at the Roughyeds!

Fair enough I am probably visualising something a little more substantial then!
Surely this is something to launch an appeal for?
Whale?
