I assume that he will get some training. Basically on how to hit
the canvass.
With Brain being a former boxer, I'm sure he will take it easy on him unless he shows some fighting spirit in which case it will be a sore night for scully.
Mind you he is retired so he'll have time to get over the bruises.
Wellens on the other hand will need to keep his guard up in case the exhibition match knocks him out for a couple of SL rounds.

Super League the only place in the world where people still believe that less competitors and a closed market to new competition will improve the quality of the product.
Even the Chinese and the Cubans gave up on these marxist principles years ago.
SL with a reduced number of competitors and a closed market = North Korea.

Best of luck to Sculthorpe, and good on him for giving it a go in a good cause.
I'm not a little chap, but that there Brian McDermott is the only bloke in a long time who has left me, on a brief acquaintance, completely physically intimidated. He didn't mean to I'm sure, but I came away thinking: wouldn't want to cross him.

There is a school of thought that the reason Harlequins RL never held the second of it's promised fans forums towards the end of last season due to the fact that Brian was somewhat "peeved" at internet posters on here, the club website and that other place who had been critical of his coaching ability given Quins nightmare 18 months on the field.
Suffice to say that no-one dared catch the coaches steely-eyed glare at any recent forums through having the temerity to ask any questions that might even imply that the club's misfortune was not down to Injuries, bad luck or refereeing bias (and if your asking since Brian's military experience is more recent than mine I kept a low profile preferring to note his words of wisdom
).
There was of course one famous occasion down a The Cabbage Patch when one well know RL fans poster dared to question Mac's declaration that Quins were in to win Super League in 2009, persistently asking the coach what was a "realistic" target for the club. This did not go down well with the ex-Royal Marine. And said questioner is now in Petone, New Zealand which is about as far away as you can get from the wrath of McDermott...

Sam Tomkins - Rugby League Week 14.03.12I was sat on the Underground train, and there was a girl looking at me. She was pretty good looking, too, I thought, "something's wrong here - girls as hot as that don't take an interest in me".
Then she came over and said - in a really strong Cockney acent - "excuse me, are you Sam Tomkins?".
She asked me for my autograph, and I was made up...until she asked me to make it out to her boyfriend. I was gutted, I thought she wanted my number
Benji Marshall discovering about Sydney "fan" loyality (Benji - page 245)After we were well beaten by South Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2010, a coupl;e of kids maybe eight or nine years old took their Wests Tigers jerseys off as I was walking off the field and threw them at me. "What's this" I said "You can have the jersey" one of them said "we don't go for West Tigers anymore". Then they ran back to their parents who were laughing. That was difficult to take, having kids who look up to you do that. I just dropped the jerseys on the ground and kept walking. It's not like we go out and lose by 50 points on purpose

Exactly, Sculthorpe is doing his bit for a very worthy cause and im sure both he and Brian will see the event goes by with the spirit in which it was organised.
Theres no denying Sculthorpe is a hard case but then Brian Mc... scary! To be honest I wouldnt want to be in either mans shoes!

a trained boxer will nearly always beat a fitter man who isn't trained. Ex oldham chairman Bill Quinn has beaten a fair few ex players in similar events due to his amateur boxing experience, and Brian Mcdermott looks in very good nick still.

STUPID....... but fair play to both for doing something so painful (particularly for Sculthorpe) in aid of a great charity.

IIRC, Scully has been "boxing" since his playing days and has spent alot of time in the gym. Admittedly, not of the same ilk as Brian McDermott but nevertheless, I think hes pretty handy.

Seriously it's in aid of a good cause so yep it's brave, but still rather him than me.

I wouldn't want to be Scully. Brian Mac was indeed a a former Marines champion and knows how to land a punch 'properly', no wild swinging of arms from Brian, stand back to give leverage and find the sweet spot. He didn't throw many punches in games, one usually being sufficient. He did throw three punches in one game, a cup game against Leeds. It left three Leeds players on their rear ends (can't remember the other two but one was Barry MacD, who IIRC started the whole schmozzle) Brian just looked towards the ref and didn't even bother going up to him, he just walked off the field whilst the merry whistle blower was fumbling for his cards. A classic.
