France won it in the forwards.

Kane Bentley was MOM, IMO. Martins and Simon were good. Both props scored tries!!

France missed the sparkle in attack of Maxime Greseque.

Ah nice one. I thought the backs did well in Avignon so this makes a change. And I've always thought Kane Bentley is a great player.

Can you clarify that the attendance was 7100?

And also Paris did the team look good enough to beat the Welsh??

Pics - http://www.roig-medi...l...ne&opt1=one (Also I've just noticed the french cheerleaders are superb!)

Sorry, I cannot confirm the crowd, but 7,100 looked about right.

I think France will need Greseque playing to win, since they are missing Bosc and eight other first choice players, (some of whom are injured, but most of whom stood down on orders of their paymaster, M. Bernard Guasch).

Why do that? Does he not want his players to have as much international experience as possible?

And I presume Greseque is expected to be back for next week?

Yeah well some have said 6700ish but the announcement said 7100. Bit of a drop from Avignon but still a good crowd. Thought Albi would get more tho as it's nearer to Toulouse and Perpignan. Perhaps people just saving up for next weeks match. Is ir mainly Catalans Dragons and Toulouse who go to the internationals, or is it more locals who don't see much XIII?? It's just some in the Avignon looked a little clueless to me. And I have heard that the Perpignan public don't see themselves as French.

Sorry about the questions it's just unlike the England and Wales teams it's hard to get info on the French over here!!

I agree about the cheerleaders. They put Les Catalans bunch to shame. In fact they would be up there with the best groups of cheerleaders I have seen at any rugby league game.

Another reason to play more games at Avignon! tongue.gif

No. He is more concerned about them being rested for next season.

Last season was such a disaster, with poor results on field, and crowds dropping more than 40%. He needs the team to come on to the field fresh next season, with all guns blazing. Particularly since they will have the new stand finished, and that will increase ground capacity to 11,000.

I presume also, but I will call tomorrow to try to find out.

French fans for internationals are drawn from all over southern France. A big portion of the Avignon crowd must have been local though, to get those numbers. Avignon is very far from Toulouse, and few Toulouse treizistes would have travelled there. So many of them may well have been novices, attracted by good marketing.

A big proportion of the Perpignan public which follows Les Catalans is Catalans nationalist, with a weak sense of French identity. M. Guasch is one of those. So I would not expect too many to have traveled to Avignon from Perpignan -- apart from the problem of distance. The crowd that they got at Avignon was certainly majority local. But I am extremely excited by that fact, because it means that we have some managerial/marketing talent over in the Vaucluse region which must be taken advantage of for the good of the French game.
