Anyone know if this is a decent signing or just one less oppertunity for a young English player?
"surely they've got to try somthing different now, maybe the little chip over the top?2

Does an EU passport allowed them to be counted them as Federation trained?

IIRC Webster had a Greek parent or grandparent - did he obtain a Greek passport, and local Federation status?
Wouldn't Mason be a Kolpak player, by having a Tongan passport?

IMO within the overseas quota of 5, only two places should be there for non EU/Kolpak passport holders. That would encourage teams to recruit players that can strengthen the emerging international teams.

He was supposedly going to Crusaders last year as a hooker/half but the story was his visa fell through. Obviously fixed that up. Seems like an ordinary signing. But once again, you never know.

My mate, who has a season ricket at the Buldogs rates him and reckons he's had a pretty good season.

To say he's a half back/5/8 these days is stretching a bit though...he's more of a utility player.

He started off being very highly rated at Parramatta, and sort of went downhill in the last 3 years or so!

I suppose that's what signing for the Sharks does to you.......
"Yeah, Marty Bella has been getting more and more frustrated all night, but he's barking up the wrong tree picking on The Chief.....he CAN fight!"

Steve Roach commentating on Origin in the 90's......he's a different style to Eddie and Stevo

It's crazy how English RL fans get so excited about signing fringe NRL players, surely looking to develop the next Sam Tompkins or Kyle Eastmond is what they should be striving for and not blocking that pathway by signing average imports.

I'm not sure, like I said, I pinched it from elsewhere.

Unless I'm mistaken, 10 players in that squad were born on the other side of the World.

Obviously, this will have been sanctioned by the RFL but I wouldn't mind seeing how each one of the 5 not on the quota has managed to get off it.

I'm assuming European passports and federation trained will be involved somewhere. rolleyes.gif

Only if they had been at the club pre Feb 2008 when the current rules came into place, with the bulk of KR's squad been put together in the summer of 07, this is why so many of KR's players have applied to become fed trained.

Im supprised that Webster hasn't become fed trained yet, but Mason can't become fed trained for the reasons I stated above, regardless of what his agent says.

I believe Vella and Galea are on EU passports due to Maltese heritage.

Can't argue with that.

Of course, Kath Hetherington and James Rule had a look at Dobson but decided he wasn't worth the money.

Maybe he was asking for a lot, and maybe he's one of the main reasons for Hull KR's debt, but I wish he played for us.

10 foreigners in Hull KR squad next year. four of them were only reserve graders in the NRL (Green, Dobson, Fisher and Lovegrove).

Good to see that clubs like Hull KR and Wakefield are promoting British youth..........I hope they come last and 2nd last next year.

another lost opportunity i would suggest. Hull KR and justin morgan have no real interest in promoting British talent. they would say they do as would their fans, but signing fringe NRL players shows to me they don't.
