Full team: G Widdop (Melbourne); T Briscoe (Hull), M Shenton (Castleford), R Atkins (Warrington), R Hall (Leeds); K Brown (Huddersfield), S Tomkins (Wigan); A Morley (Warrington, capt), J Roby (St Helens), D Griffin (Huddersfield), G Ellis (Wests Tigers), S Burgess (South Sydney), S O'Loughlin (Wigan).

Subs: L Robinson (Huddersfield), E Crabtree (Huddersfield), J Tomkins (Wigan), B Westwood (Warrington), B Harrison (Warrington), L Cudjoe (Huddersfield).

Fielden's at his child's birth, Graham is rested, and the other three miss out.

Pointers to the test team there?

McNamara was thwarted in his attempt to field 23 members of his 24-strong touring party so Huddersfield hooker Shaun Lunt, Wigan winger Darrell Goulding and Harlequins centre Tony Clubb are the ones to miss out.

Why doe they keep putting Michael Shenton (Castleford)?
Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

Maybe his contract with Cas hasn't finished yet.

Sorry. Michael Shenton (C*stleford). Or more accurately Michael Shenton (soon to be ex C*stleford).

And to answer your question, Lord knows what his name is doing there. Probably no-one better who could actually break a tackle or score a try. That MacNamara, eh?

The expiry date for SL player contracts is 30th November in any given year, so he's still a Castleford player until then.

So....

Griffin at prop, eh? That's his chance.

I see they've gone for young Widdop at fullback.

BRown & Tompkins as the halves? Let's see what they make of that.

Robinson off the bench as AHB, not Lunt. Hmm

Big mistake NOT INCLUDING Lunt, I can see why Robbie's in there to cover halfback and 9 but i would like to see two recognised hookers who have the abillity to scoot out of acting half as well as call plays from this position. Surely Lunt's style would compliment Roby's expected contribution far better.

Not a bad side, our best backline I think even though players like Tomkins at 7 are out of position thats my only worry, the lads played FB all season very well and now he's moved to scrum half???

Really? biggrin.gif

I think you'll find there's a young fella there who'll be playing for Engalnd sooner rather than later. Just like that other Fev lad Tom Briscoe.

I'd rather see Robinson starting at 9. Roby is a great impact player but he's not a traditional hooker, he's far better coming off the bench to use his speed around the ruck.

Well, it's a barrel that's provided a hell of a lot of Gb internationals over the years, so why not? tongue.gif

Fev is not "variosu (sic) places close to Fev". It's Fev.

Bit thin on GB internationals yourselves given the SL funding you've had to bring on your juniors over the last decade and a half, aren't you?

I agree but I feel that Nathan Brown hasn't done young Lunt any favours by playing him out of position merely to fit in Robinson and Brough to his side. Robinson isn't half the hooker Lunt is but if Brown wanted to play Brough then he had to play Robinson at hooker or leave one out which he wouldn't do. Lunt could be another player to move down under which is an ambition of his.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.
