According to the Cents website it is now being played on Wednesday 12th January at hemel hempsteads ground. Kick off to be confirmed. Do HH have flood lights? as I can't see the game being played during the day as I would think most of the Cents boys will be at work.

Stags do have floodlights.

The website was indeed excellent but someone else is now 'webmaster'. And, no, it isn't as good now. But they are all volunteers, so hey ho.

RSS feed seems to have stopped working now, too

I noticed the difference in the website between last season and this. It was the website that got me to come along and watch rugby league at st albans. I came across it on the web and thought it was good, full of stats, photos, and updated a couple of times a week. When we came to st albans to visit the outlaws, I popped along and watched a game, and have been back about 4 times last season. The current website doesn't even mention cents winning the Nationals, no stats and all the photos have gone. I thought they had changed to a different website supplier and I just wanted to mention it in case anyone from the club looks at TRL. I thought the old one was better as I'm a big believer in clubs having a good looking, regularly updated website.
Didnt mean to moan about the volunteer who does it, as amateur rugby clubs need all the volunteers they can get.

Regarding no mention of the National Grand Final; there was a full report on the website on at the time, however there was an error on at our hosting service and the site was corrupted, unfortunately the backup I had was not the latest as such certain stories were lost completely and I simply haven't had the time to recreate that content. As well as having not been near a web connection to much recently updates are slower (than you expect anyway in the off-season)

Anyway feedback is always welcome I will see what can be done to improve on those areas, Im a grown lad I can take criticism with good humour.

As for the error with the date of the game that was pointed out to me and is now fixed.

Final point -- Barrow for Super League!

First quarter of the game was evenly contested and Cents had their chances to cross the BP line, but from midway through the half, the game got away from them as BP winger fly hacked the ball the best part of 90 metres to score under the posts, and a few minutes later, on the last, they put up a bomb which the Cents full back dropped and they scored under posts. Cents heads went down and poor defence let the BP run away with it. Second half was a better dispay from Cents and they deservedly got a tally of points, but the better team won.

Cents are a shadow in the halves from last year and I know Christmas has just been but it would be fair to say no one held back on the turkey and pudding biggrin.gif

I thought the game was won by the BP teams better defence and bigger players. First 15 minutes BP were hardly in the Cents half but Cents just couldn't cross their line and get the ball down. How many times did the police hold up Cents players over their line, 3 or 4?
It developed into a good old fashioned rugby match, but with BP capitalising on Cents mistakes, it seemed as though they were going to run away with the game with their 0 - 28 scoreline at half time. Second half was all change again, Cents were the better team running in 4 tries. At 22 - 28 there was a time when I thought they could manage a fightback, but then BP scored in the 78th minute, that was that. An enjoyable game played by two good teams, and on the day the best team won, but I would love to see Cents play in the early stages of the CC in their mid season, and not 3 months before it starts, but thats not to be.

Unfortunately thats the way its always been. In years gone by, we have played teams like Thatto Heath, Widnes St Maries and Birkenshaw right in the middle of their season and have been flogged, so at least with the introduction of the pool system we are likely to come up against a side of similar preparedness as ourselves. That said I thought we looked very under prepared today and disappointed in several areas on the field. We have still yet to win a game in the Challenge Cup.

I think that I would say that rather than BP being better they had the rub of the green on the day. As you pointed out BP capitalised on mistakes which gave them a 12 point lead and can't be seen as a form of playmaking.

How ever as you noted Cents were held up over the line 3 to 4 times, on another day with a bit more game time they would have been try’s. But the point being that they managed to get over the line so many times and by hard work and not luck.

If it were not for those 12 points from mistakes it would have been Cents day.
BP had the advantage of a huge number of players to choose from and from and the momentum of their trip to Australia.

I know Shane Rampling the Cents coach will not be a happy bunny for the loss of any match, but his half time team talk should leave no doubt that he knows how to get the best out of a group of players.

BP would have assumed they would have carried on from the first half but they struggled to cope with Cents and those held up try’s from the first half were grounded in this half. Cents didn’t get their points though a bit of luck but by correcting first half mistakes.

This was not just my opinion but was backed up by a number of the BP players who said they were lucky to come away winners.

I'm not trying to be controversial, but as the BP coach generously said after the match there were 2 half’s and they lost one of them and they were happy the game did not go on a bit longer as they may have struggled.
