"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore
"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

The last government were convinced that we were there to do their bidding. They wasted vast quantities of our money in order to spy on us, intimidate us and needlessly over regulate us, whilst gold plating their own pensions and expenses. Their behind the scenes encouragement of, and turning a blind eye to, the kettling and harrassment tactics of the Police are a shameful episode in our history which we need to remember and address urgently. - Haloman

Can you imagine how much that would annoy Ferguson. Worth every penny.
Or the Mash take on this..

Agent: Wayne. Wayne! Look at me, don't drool on the old lady secretary!
Wayne: Mkay
A: Wayne, agent sad. Agent not had big money from cut of transfer fees in six years.
W: Kick football!
A: No Wayne, you need to go to another club or I'll keep being sad.
W: But old red nosed man with funny accent nice and protect Wayne from nasty people. He says he'll stop me becoming the next Gazza.
A: Red nosed man doesn't like you talking to those poor girls with very little clothes on. We'll find you a club where the manager doesn't care how many old trollops you bone in an evening as long as you score goals. Also, I'll get more money. Sorry, I'll get you more money. More money means Colleen will go shopping more and you can have even more time for skanky women!
W: Can I still kick football and have more nekkid girls?
A: Sure Wayne, I'll get you a season ticket for the brothels wherever you go if you agree to tell red nosed man that you're too good to play in his team of nobodies.
W: I'm confused.
A: My gran's in the back room there and promised to give you a gum-job if you tell old red nose that you want to go away.
W: Granny gum-jobs! Yay!
Money can't buy happiness... but it can buy bacon which is close enough.

Probably enables Fergie to get another couple of years from him before he does finally move on. Everyone saves face with this deal. Whether he'll get the relationship back with the fans is another thing though.

the way it's been handled; fergie's press conference, rooney's statement then the speed of the resolution and the length of the deal, suggests to me that things weren't as they seemed.
a mate of mine is a lawyer in manchester and has dealings with various premiership clubs, mainly citeh, he seems to think it was a set up to get the yanks to open up the wallets a bit.

Just a none story, with Rooney and Fergie playing their roles - to hide what???
Maybe it's like Sam says and I'm thinking too hard
Don't think everyone saves face Si....just think it's covering up a bigger story somehow
I know for me it just adds to a long list of reasons I am more and more fed up of premiership football

That's what I was thinking. All too quick and public and out of character for Ferguson.

A bloke told me with a straight face and as if it were gospel that his neighbours wife was in the same anti-natel classes as Mrs Stretford who was desperate to move house prior to the little'uns arrival but Paul was having to drum up some business to finance it!
