The PBR Philadelphia Fight Rugby League Club will be holding a team fundraiser for our Spring 2011 tour of England on Saturday October 23rd from 6-10pm at the American Legion Club 153 located at 2514 S. 24th Street, Philadelphia PA 19145.
This is a fundraiser for our team’s tour of England in the Spring 2011. We need to raise funds for travel and uniforms.
Tickets are $30 each and we will have a DJ, food, 50/50 raffle, beer pong tournament with $100 to the winner, 8 person beer bong, a basket of cheer, and a Chinese auction with several small baskets. The event will run from 6-10pm.
Please tell all your friends, we need your help to make this event a success!!

Good luck with this. I personally think that the USA could be one of the better countries to invest time and effort into. Even if RL remains very much a minority sport in the big picture, you can develop pockets of interest which, given the right conditions, could see localised support larger than we see in some traditional areas of England.
What sort of standard do you think the team would be, compared to the UK structure?

Beer pong tournament - with $100 prize!
I'd get nowhere near, if my performances at the Michigan / Michigan State tailgate a week ago are anything to go by.

It would be difficult to guage what sort of stadard they are. They do tend to get some useful Aussies over to play for them. Obviously not top drawer but a good standard player nontheless. I couldn't see them playing any CC or CC1 teams as they'd be way out of their depth. I could envisage them playing a few decent amateur teams though.

If Rugby League in the states can build on playing numbers year on year and with that more clubs they could become a force in international Rugby League in years to come.

I e-mailed the Fight to ask who their opponents were and when they would be playing. Apparently they will be playing Wigan Riversiders on Thu 21st Apr and Haresfinch on Sun 24th Apr.

Should be interesting. If you visit their website there is some match coverage on it. They look pretty strong to me- raw in places for sure but fast and physical, and definately not novices. Regional Premier standard, or NCL 2.... What do you posters think???

Deluded Pom if you and your Touring Team are interested I'm sure that our Team at Rochdale Mayfield would be interested in Hosting a match against your Team .if you could send us your Tour Dates through,
we currently play in the National Conference 1 st division and have a member of our committee who works for the RFL, should you require any assistance etc.
If you think the standard may be to high we also have a 2 nd team that we could mix with our 1 st's to make it more even !, either way I'm sure we could make your visit an enjoyable one ( take in a Super League game also whilst here)

I don't have anything to do with the Philadelphia Fight GB.
