I've a feeling he might end up back at Leigh, or maybe Swinton, Guy. Liked him as a player, gutsy and enthusiastic. Don't think we have any more room left for another playmaker though at this stage.

What's a playmaker?
We don't use them at Leigh - much like fast wingers!!

How about SL legends Bobby Paul, John Duffy and Dave Alstead.
I'm sure Basil will abuse the spirit of the duel registration system again this season and get 4 (why are Leigh allowed one more than everyone else ?) backs from the Warrington, Saints and Wigan 1st team squads.
Govin did a great job for us last season and good luck to him. Leigh could, and probably will, do worse than him.

Everyone is allowed 4 dual registration/loan players, just no more than 3 from any one club. We had 3 from Wire and 1 from Saints. It will be the same again this year
The system was not abused, it was used as the RFL laid it down.
Sorry folks, no forecast comp this year

To clarify, I never said you abused the duel-reg system, I said you abused the spirit of it.
BJ Mather, the RFL’s Head of Player Development, explains:
“The purpose of the RFL’s new dual registration system is to provide a flexible development pathway for young Super League players who might not be quite ready to make the step up to Super League first team duties''
I don't see how your 4 'duel reg' players from last year (including a Challenge Cup winner and guys who were on the fringes of the teams throughout the year - Emmit 10 games, Mitchell 5 games, Blythe 10 games in 2009) live up to this.
The lads we got from Huddersfield were no where near as accomplished as this and you could see their game coming on throughout the season.
They were brought in to compliment our squad, rather then be essential members of it, as they were at Leigh.

I completely agree with you there, It is far too open for abuse and IMO makes a Mockery of the Championship, By all means loan players to other teams and recall them when they are needed putting a end to that loan, But to have players playing for 2 different teams is a joke.

Without them you wouldn't have won the NRC.
Where's the difference?
(Polite lads though I'm sure they are, I think you'll find that they only complemented your squad.

BSJ, I'm afraid that none of our dual reg players competed in any of our Northern Rail Cup games last season, including the final. However, loan player Alex Brown did play in the semi-final and final. Hope that clarifies things.

You may prefer "those" Ernie, but in this context "them" is equally grammatically correct, as I'm sure you know.
(Hope you're on the mend btw. You can't afford a drop in attendance next year.)

It does, thanks. I was under the impression that Brown was a dual reg, so I am suitably corrected.

Only dual registered players who have played in the group stages are allowed to play in the knock out stages , and as ours wasnt released by huddersfield till our first championship game , they didnt qualify , so we had to ask giants if we could take alex brown off of dual and put him on loan to enable him to play in the knock out games , something they wernt prepared to do for Griffiths , so he was left on dual , hope this clears up your little misunderstanding BSJ

Aaah, now I understand. Any players would have done as long as they were wearing the Batley shirt.
Purely hypothetical now on any case - the cup's in your cupboard and staying there till next year.
(Is it me or does this close season seem to have been interminable already?)

Abused the spirit of it. We didn't ask for those players AFAIK, they were the ones offered by the SL club. You don't get it do you..the SL club is in charge not a poxy little Championship side. Its not our fault you couldn't get decent DR players. I suppose the quality of player is reflected in the quality of the club you have the agreement with. Our agreement was with Saints and Wire, Widnes had an agreement with Wigan (although they didn't really benefit in the end). Just because a club might not agree with it, doesn't mean they won't use it if its there. Unless you've got buckets of cash (no I won't make a joke..promise) then in the current climate you save as much as you can while trying to maintain the quality of the product on the pitch

Agreed. Gave 100% for us from the word go, despite some fans being slightly dubious when we picked him up from Swinton to cover for Kyle Wood's departure. Some of the Leigh fans seem a bit unsure about offering a contract, but I can assure them he's well worth having in their squad. Shame we couldn't keep him, but I reckon we've got more than adequate replacements signed up.
