Personally, I think Macnamara's got it right, I'm assuming Crabtree and Tomkins J. will be on after 20 mins or so.

Would love to see Joel doing as near a full match as poss but you can't really argue with the starting second row.

Great to see Sam Tomkins starting at scrum half, heard he was a doubt, hope he's not carrying a knock.

My jury's still out over Widdop. Could you see the Aussies/Kiwiws picking somebody with only a handful of Super league matches behind him to represent their country over here?

Not a bad team overall but, having seen them last week, I fear the Kiwis will eventually start to run over the top of us and it could get painful later on in the game. sad.gif

Still I hope not, we really need to start this tournament off with a win to give us a bit of belief against the old enemy.

Here's hoping! smile.gif

co sign. griffin and cudjoe to miss out for me .. but would prefer cudjoe in there ahead of goulding to be honest.

would have had Lunt on the bench, and robinson in for brown personally.

Graham as captain is interesting. It might make him think before he shoots his mouth off.

I am totally missing the point of Griffin and Tomkins in front of Crabtree..(who has been excellent in his international appearances so far)..can anybody enlighten..????

Some top class players, some quality players, and some passable for the level.., the test is in the coaching and game plan.., i confess i will be happy if we compete and the interest lasts for the 80 minutes.

Griffin is dog knacker, Crabtree had a big hand in 2 tries on sat with off loads, he's gotta be in.

The Kiwis picked Krisnan Inu after just one first-grade NRL match. He didn't do bad in his test debut, either.

To be honest, I am nervous about this match and the tournament as a whole, but that's mainly down to traumatic memories of England's abject performances last time they played down under.

I would have preferred to have seen Crabtree picked. He's proved himself worthy of the shirt in last year's tournament.

I know that they are different positions but the player who made the least impact (Kevin Brown)is chosen to start ahead of Robinson to start and the player who made a big impact (Eorl Crabtree) is dropped. I fear the worst.

for me they need 2 props to spell with the 2 starting props.. as such unless you want to play tomkins or westwood or burgess at prop then you need Crabtree AND Griffin.. i think its between Westwood and Tomkins for one place.. and cudjoe for me says there may be an issue with someones fitness in the backs especially if there is an either/or already in the wing position..

for me Tomkins (penalty issues) misses out with cudjoe.

For me we look strong in the forwards. Fielden will be wanting to prove a point and graham should have an edge now he's captain. I'm just not sure where the points will come from - I think we will be reliant on creation from sam tomkins and are we good enough defensively out wide. C'mon England!!

I really like Joel Tomkins but Crabtree is clearly the better player at this point. And he covers both prop and second row. I'm not keen on going into this game (or any international) with 3 props and 4 second rows, it should be the other way round.

Plus Robinson should be in at 9 ahead of Roby who is purely an impact player off the bench. His distribution isn't great and we looked so much better around the ruck when Sinfield (last year) and Robinson (last week) were directing things.

If Hall misses out then Cudjoe would be a better bet than Goulding. He's faster and has a better all-round game.
