I went to three major finals last season, The Challenge Cup, the Grand Final, and the Co-ooperative Championship finals at Warrington.
The outcome of the CC final was obvious by half time - Leeds put up hardly any resitance to Warrington. Wigan played some nice football, but effectively the game was over by half time - certainly by the hour mark.
The best of the three (I know my team was involved) was the Halifax - Featherstone final. Undecided until the final kick (although I don't like the "golden point") and both sides played some excellent football. Discuss.

The Chamionship Final was the best spectacle in terms of the game and the see-saw nature of it and the outcome of extra time.

However, i would have to disagree that the best football was specifically played in that final. In the Wigan v Saints game, some of the off-the-cuff and set piece moves that Wigan put together were as good as anything i've seen all season and certainly a cut above anything Fev or Fax produced in their final IMO (as good as both teams were).

No argument. But the game as a contest was over on the hour. On the hour in the Fev game Fev were winning 22-4. They lost.

I'd agree. The Championship Final was edge of seat stuff in the last quarter, the other games were finished spectacles by that time.

Money can't buy happiness... but it can buy bacon which is close enough.

Working to your title.

The best football played IMO was in the CC and the GF by Wire and Wigan, who displayed a masterclass in dominating their more succesful (recently) opponents. The problem with these as a spectacle was that the teams were so good and dominant that the games as a contest were rather limited. Whilst you could be in awe of the way these teams implemented their strategies and delivered great performances, there would be no doubt that a game that went to sudden death extra time would be classed as the more exciting game.

The best games I have seen though, have been in SL this year, as when the likes of Wire v Wigan (twice) and Saints v Wigan (twice) played, with all of the teams very near to the top of their game, then they are brilliant games, just like the Championship GF which had two top Championship teams at the top of their game.

No argument from me either. As i stated, from the point of view of of a spectacle and an edge of your seat experience, the Championship Final was undoubtedly the best of the games you mentioned IMO.

However, in terms of the football played and the skills on display, the guile and unrelenting attacking finesse of some of the Wigan play in the SL GF was the best football i saw in any of those finals.
