We are now nearly half way through the 2010/11 league season and most fans have watched nearly all the sides play. Which amateur players are impressing the fans with their play. Which players are the danger men and the ones to watch. Gary Middlehurst of Leigh East was regarded as the best player last season and I regarded him as the most valuable player for 2009/10. He has scored a hat trick in both of his last two games. I believe he has scored 19 tries this season so far. Is their any better than him this year. Lets hear your views Forum Folk.

gary and danny kilshaw are the lethal duo and best partnership i have ever seen, but i have seen a lot of great players in the conference, darren woods , trev penrose , gavin corfield, lee gudor , scott obrien, tom hill, mal alker, kieron maddox, and a load more thats why its the hardest division in rl

I agree with you totally Mr Chairman with all the players named . Gary Middlehurst and Danny Kilshaw were superb against Skirlaugh this weekend. But who is the most valuable? You can pick any player for your team then who would you pick first?

This could turn out to be a bit of an unfair topic because one man doesnt make a team . What one player does in attack another does in defence , I'm not knocking your post but do you see my point ?
It wasn't me, a big boy did it and ran away!!

The best individual display i have seen this season came from Danny Kilshaw against St.Pats, Gary Middlehurst did score a hat trick in that game but Kilsh laid on all 3 as well as scoring 1 himself and setting up a couple more for other players, he also did his fair share in defence in that game.

I get your point 'getemonsidereferee' and that is why I used the statement 'Most Valuable Player' when I introduced this topic. For example I've seen Trev Penrose a couple of times this season already and although he is not a prolific try scorer, strike player or try maker he is massive about the park and without question a great captain and leader. He gives something that other players can't. Does that make him the most valuable? We all can only offer an opinion. I am interested in other fans views regarding what they have seen and think, and I hope we can all avoid being unfair when giving our opinions.

Yeah 'The Bish', who do you rate as the most valuable players. Mr. Chairman has his opinion about players and he is brave enough to air them. You must know or have seen players that are a bit special, so please give us your opinion.

Well I was maybe being a little unfair to Mr Chairman as like you say we've all got our opinions. I spend a lot of time travelling so don't see any team in particular, but when I'm in the Leigh area I obviously watch both Rangers and East, Scott O'Brien for me is the main man at Twist Lane and Kilshaw and Middlehurst are a bit special at East. Gary Weymes makes East Hull tick by getting them going forward, and Stephenson at Dockers is a class act, Spence can be very good at Skirlaugh but not all that consistant, I like Sean Wildbore what I've seen of him, a real workhorse who plays well above his weight. These like Mr Chairmans are only my opinions, so don't start giving me any for it, Theres plenty more, such as Pendlebury, Alker, Gudor, Garrod etc etc.

The prop for Leigh Miners was very impressive when Siddal played them. Think he played 80min and looked dangerous every time he had ball

That would be Daryll Kay, a really good player gets through mountains of work offloads well and usually does the full 80 in the front row, Scott O'Brien at Miners is also a bit special as is Paul Pendlebury at Judes, Mel Alker and Gaz Phillips at Pats are also class acts the list is endless and its probably fair to say that every side has a couple of players all of us would like to see in our own teams.

I apologise 'The Bish' if I came over as giving you a bit, I didn't intend anything like that. Like your input and I agree. I travel about a bit too and as well as acknowledging the performances of some of the better known players I have been impressed by some of the newer players. St Judes have a great talent in Dean Hunt, the half back. When he's going forward with the ball in his hands he is very dangerous, trying to open holes up everywhere. Also, I've heard that Skirlaugh were very impressed with a young forward from Thatto called Clarke. Did over 50 tackles in their recent fixture and did the full 80. Their are loads out there doing well. Keep the opinions coming.
