The BBC should sack Ray French, or lay him off due to his Alzhiemers.

He can barely remember any players names, he relies too much on shirt numbers, hasn't a clue about players clubs (you can almost hear his pages in the programme turning), he has no stats, and he is too Northern sounding.

His commentary of the Aus v PNG game was almost embarresing, it sounded like a 80 year old p***-head sounding off at the TV, he was a donkey for Saints, he is a Donkey for the BBC. I could do better. Hell, Wendall could do better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ray French has been a great ambassador and fighter for the game, unfortunately just as with his predecessor the BBC seem to insist on keeping him in place long after his time as far as commentary goes.

Well, yes. I agree.

I doubt there is anyone on this board who knows close to or has done near as much for rugby league as Ray French. I would like to see him as a summariser too, but he deserves respect from us all. He is also a Gentleman.

PS My girlfriend is upper class, European lass and an incredible snob. Ray French was one of the few native English people she finds well spoken. Perception and all that.

For your first post, that has an amazing amount of arrogance in it.
On 13/2/2013, Hull City's owners the Allams, released a statement in their position as the owners of the KC Stadium Management Committee. One line in this statement read as follows....

"The SMC's principal responsibility is to remain neutral"

Witty, succinct, insightful. Good first post.

TBH, when I listen to him on Merseyside, he calls game ok. I know that could be that's because I can't see what's really happening, but he is on the ball enough to be a decent radio man, though his back-up team do a lot to guide him.
He's stepped back from the big games allowing the excellent Dave Woods take over, so he is easing his way out, trying to go out in a dignified manner.Let's just allow him to do this.
I do agree though, in the main, it is time for him to fade into history, he knows it too.
