Why is this appalling??? It's a loan deal - not dual registration! Loan deals have worked effectively for donkeys years. The parent club has no control over the players selection whilst at the club loaning him. He becomes a full time member of that squad for the period of loan.

Dual reg is another matter.

What is the point of buying him then ??

Will he go the way of Michael Coady - certainly looks that way ??

Its come home to roost at Headingley - why have the finest Academy set up , attracting the best young talent when they never bring them through?? I could name a team of Leeds Academy lads who have had to move away to Super League teams to be a success as Leeds seem intent on paying stupid money to ageing Aussies !!

What is the point of signing Zack and then loaning him back - old boys helping each other?? Tell me ??

Erm....possibly becasue the lad is 18 and has only played 22 games of Championship rugby in his entire career to date. Its quite likely that he'd get pounded if they stuck him in the first team straight away. Better to let him develop for another season in a competitive league than put him up against the big guns immediately and face being targeted week in, week out. Its only the same as NRL clubs signing up young talent and letting them develop at their own pace in one of their Queensland Cup partner clubs for a season or too.
You really don't think Leeds bring any players through from their Academy? I suggest you look at the SL sides they have put out in recent seasons. The majority of players in their team actually come through the Headingley Academy system. In the case of Coady, they liked what they saw and took the chance to give a promising player an opportunity, which is hardly a bad thing for the game? If he doesn't make the grade with them, I'm sure the skills and habits he's picked up there will benefit another club.
Maybe you need to remove your anti-Rhinos tinted spectacles.

some hunslet fans just can't get past the hatred of the rhinos.

one thing that certainly can't be said of them is not bringing through talent from within. The core of the leeds team is made up of english players and most of the lads who move on do so because they're being block by english players not 'ageing aussies'.

Beacuae he's a seriously exciting talent who may well be a GB international in 3-4 years! Good business - Leeds stealing a march on all other interested SL clubs!

Why does it. Coady is nowhere near Zak's class!

Why does it matter?? It was part of the deal that will eventually take him to Leeds. He was on a 3 years deal so we had a good bargaining point. It gives Zak another year to develop in the championship - leeds pay his wages (part of the deal) and then he will be 20 and better prepared to make the step up!!
Old boys??? What twaddle!

nothing wrong with that hardaker deal imo, it makes perfect sense for him to go out on loan for a season, it just so happens he's going straight back where he came, there may be a recall clause in there somewhere but he certainly won't be constantly moving back and forth (the reason why i am against dual reg)

seems like a great piece of business by fev and the scum

There is no recall clause - he will engage in pre-season training with Leeds and move back to Fev for the start of the cup games where he will remain until the end of our season.

But as you say - a fantastic deal for our lot given that we get a massive wedge up front (considering he would have gone for nowt next year if we'd held onto the lad), we get the player for another year and Leeds pay his wages!!

so lowey was the best forward apart from Chapman, Dave March, Haughey? thats before even comparing him to the other props.

for me the big problem is his fitness, whilst we've seen (with a few different clubs) that he's able to get away with it in championship 1. well structure teams in the championship will easily tire him out, and expose him

Sorry been away hence delayed reply, for me our forwards are weaker without Lowe. Time will tell if the current forwards will hack it in the championship which i have reservations about a few & don't see how we are stronger than we were last year. Hopefully the final signing will fill the void.

Think your guys will stay up this year, which has to realistically be your target... A strong home form, and not taking to heart any major beatings that may occur on the way will see you right....Keighley seemed to give up in too many games, when was their downfall....Can't see Hunslet doing the same....and I still say Widnes will be the first team relegated, then promoted to super league, because thats what the rules are for them sleep.gif
