Four Nations Tipping Competition 2010 Round 2

Welcome

The 2010 Rugby League 4 Nations Tournament enters its second week. On Saturday in Rotarua, North Island, New Zeand the Kiwis take on Papua New Guinea. The Sunday game will be staged at Storm's new ground in Melbourne - Aami Park. In this game Australia take on England.

We're running a tipping competition for the duration of the tournament and everyone reading this is welcome to enter.

Round 2 Questions:

1a Name the winner of Saturday's game, New Zealand or Papua New Guinea
1b What will the winning margin be to the team you've picked? 0 to 7 points 8 to 15 points over 16 points
1c What will the total number of points scored be by both teams in this game?

2a Name the winner of Sunday's game Australia or England

2b What will the winning margin be to the team you've picked? 0 to 7 points 8 to 15 points over 16 points
2c What will the total number of points scored be by both teams in this game?

3 What will the total number of points scored by all four teams be?

The most important element of our competition will be the match tipping one - the two winning teams.

Weekly records will be kept throughout the tournament with a tipping ladder produced. There will also be a weekly animated award made to the top tipster. If this is shared as is likely then the overall points total (Question 3) will act as the tie breaker.

Enjoy your international rugby league this weekend and an equally competitive tipping competition.

Cheers,
Graham

Saturday's result:

New Zealand 76-12 Papua New Guinea a mismatch unfortunately.

Virtually a Kiwi point a minute.

You may be correct. I don't know. Please give info to support your opinion.

The man has limited vision, his team selection smacks of the knee jerk/ bending to pressure. The bloke is out of his depth.

The foolish bit then is his team selection for this match.
The man has made 11 changes to a team that was trying to find its feet.
Success is something you build, not grope blindly towards.

11 changes? Eleven?

It's not just that he's made a foolish decision going into this match though.
His coaching record is poor - Bradford didn't try to keep him to his contract they were happy for him to leave early on the back of eight straight defeats and a decline under his stewardship from a top team to a struggling team.
Under him the England team is losing credibility. This reflects a coach who is all at sea. You could hear the Bradford fans give a collective sigh of relief when he left them - that's about 25 miles away from here!

One of his nicknames while at Bradford: McBanana

Just 4 minutes to the final whistle. Heavy rain - wet and windy.

A try apiece in the second half.

Final score: Australia 34 - 14 England

Australia won it in the first half, five tries to one. 28--8 at half time.

The final then: Australia v New Zealand

Rugby League 4 Nations Round 2

Results:

New Zealand 76 - 12 Papua New Guinea

Australia 34 - 14 England

Here's our match tipping results

1976PMJWires 2
DJDJDJ 2
Barney 2
G Las D 2
Bourbon Rat 2
Rugby Female 2
Kiwityke 2

1b Winning margin in the NZ/PNG game:

64 points which is the 16+ category

All tipsters got the correct margin and team NZ v PNG:

1976PMJWires
DJDJDJ
Barney
G Las D
Bourbon Rat
Rugby Female
Kiwityke

1c Points total in NZ v PNG game: 88

The nearest to that total here:
DJDJDJ (-12)

2b Winning margin in the Australia v England:

20 points which is the 16+ category

Five tipsters got the correct margin and team Aus v Eng:
1976PMJWires
DJDJDJ
Barney
G Las D
Bourbon Rat

2c Points total in Australia v England game: 48

None of us correctly predicted the exact number:
The nearest and therefore the winners here were 1976PMJWires (-4)
and DJDJDJ (+4)

3 Grand Total of Points: 136

None of us forecast this exact number ... ... ... The nearest was Bourbon Rat (+4)

The main element to this comp though is the match tipping totals which go forward with us into the next round of games.

All seven of us top scored. The tie breaker (3. Total points competition) means that this week's champion tipster is therefore Bourbon Rat (+4)

Congratulations to our winners this week.
Good luck in the Round 3 competition.
I'll produce an animated award for this week and update the thread of our 4 Nations 2010 Comp results at the top of the forum's front page.

Cheers,
Graham

Rugby League 4 Nations 2010 Round 2

This week's awards:

***

Well done to all this week's entrants, thank you for taking part.

Everyone reading this is welcome to join in the Round 3 Competition which will be posted shortly.

The games for this are being played this coming Saturday 6th November at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand. The main game between New Zealand and Australia should be a cracker, though both will progress to the final whatever the outcome.

Thanks GLD

Any comments on the standard of refereeing by Archer and touchies? It left a lot to be desired IMO.

Honest comment on the 'standard' of officiating by Archer, the blind mice & the video ref might get my post censored dry.gif

Let's just say it was a text book example of why officials for international should be NEUTRAL rolleyes.gif
