I appreciate going British is a fine gesture, but surely they are crying out for a 'name'ish coach?

If someone like Mark Aston has turned you down you know your club is in dire straits!

nah. Aston is sheffield through and through, it would take a big club to make him leave them and quins next year looks like a hiding to nothing.
"surely they've got to try somthing different now, maybe the little chip over the top?2

I can't think of a bigger name in english Rugby League, his love for the sport, his quality as a player, his ability as a coach and his integrity, passion for RL and achievements in the game are top notch.
Maybe if Mark had beeen blessed with speed of leg he would have had even more respect and achievement.
But stuff that, Quins asked a top man so fair play and he gave a top reply.

One of your more stupid comments, and that's saying something.

I'm not surprised he turned them down. Quins is not an enticing proposition for anyone at the moment, and Mark is 100% committed to Sheffield on and off the pitch.

Interesting comments from Mark about Eagles and SL.
I think he's hoping for Eagles in SL in 2015, and if it doesn't happen he will have to look for a coaching job in SL for his own career aspirations. The only way it might happen, IMO, is that the crowds increase significantly at Bramall Lane. Everything else is pretty much in place.
I think Quins going for a UK coach is a good thing personally.

agree with this..
Also Aston turning you down is not a "snub" in the same way as say James Lowes turning you down would be.. Aston set up the present incarnation of the Eagles and was personally hurt by the Shuddersfield debacle becuase of his passion for RL in Sheffield. as such he has done everything to try and get them up there and this decision is made for more than coaching reasons (as he says) so its not a snub in a pure coaching sense.
personally i would still not be upset to see Rob Powell be given a chance

Would prefer to see Rob Powell continue as our number 2 to a more experienced coach in preparation
to step up further down the line if we get that far.
Certainly would not regard it as the end of the world if he was appointed though.
