Ok this isn't Rugby League related as such but as we are a salary capped sport I found this guys comments interesting and maybe worthy of discussion. (mods feel free to move this if you feel it would be better elswhere)

As a big supporter of the cap I found it intersting to hear how a cap has made for a more varied competition in the NFL and as I've said before I think the first signs of this are starting to show in SL. I'd never thaught how the cap could be used to perhaps encourage investors either.

American sports also have a draft system which levels things out even more, and I doubt you'd ever get the clubs to agree to that in RL.
"Journalists are meant to be neutral, for God's sake." - Stephen 'Wiggy' Jones

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

The draft only works because all the players are developed by the college / university system and that's where all the players come from either when or just before graduation.

We would have to have a complete change of culture here for that to occur!!
North Derbyshire Chargers - join the stampede

Raising money for Prostate Cancer UK - ran the Spire 10 mile in August and the Worksop Half Marathon in October - more to come in 2013

I think you'll find that a draft system would violate our employment laws.
