1 .Campbell / Preece / Hodgson /
2. Brown / Reittie
3. Williams
4. Maun
5. Johnson /
6. Handforth
7. Mennell/Moore
8. Smith
9. Lythes / Flanagan (eventually)
10. Hesketh
11. Bretherton
12. Walton .
13. Lindsay .

14 . Manning
15. Toothill.
16 . Robinson.
17 . Gallagher/Toohey/Martin/Potter / Buttery (out for a while anyway )

That looks some squad and not sure if ive missed anyone out but look at the options available to Rhino . Got to be the strongest squad weve had in years . Selection headaches galore but its the way Karl wants it biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I think my £25 bet with King of Leon is in doubt NOT biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Hmmm I see you've shoved Campbell in there as one of the options at full-back. You know something we don't? biggrin.gif

I am assuming the dual registration players will not be available at the start of the season. My starting 17 for the Northern Rail Cup would be.
1. Preece
2. Brown
3. Williams
4. Maun
5. Reittie
6. Handforth
7. Moore
8. Smith
9. Lythes
10. Hesketh
11. Manning
12.Bretherton
13.Lindsay
14. Mennell
15. Walton
16. Toothill
17. Robinson

This leaves Toohey, Gallagher, Martin,Buttery,Potter,Flanagan and the dual registration players to come in.
It is difficult to predict the starting 17. On paper it looks a very good squad of players.

what we need is some really productive friendlies to see how we get on against SL elite and some pub club donkeys.

Do some of the new personnel read from the cardoza book of Rugby or are they like rourke and spears and will work themselves into the gound even when were 40 nil down or 40 up?

on paper there are some great players there, getting them to play to a game plan as a team and try new things out under the rhino is another thing surely?

Karl cheers now move on the KEAR IS HERE!

Has or is Flanagan signing then?

This is a really difficult question. Does anyone else agree that the partnership of Moore and Handforth did not work aswell as Mennell/Handforth? The problem is where would Moore play?
I`ll go for;

1 HODGSON/PREECE
2 BROWN
3 WILLIAMS
4 MAUN
5 JONHSON/REITTIE
6 HANDFORTH
7 MENNELL
8 SMITH
9 LYTHE
10 HESKETH
11 WALTON
12 MANNING
13 LINDSAY
14 MOORE
15 BRETHERTON
16 TOOTILL
17 ROBINSON

I am not sure who KH will choose at scrum half, but what I do think is that, assuming Flanagan signs, we have the players to change the way we play mid match. Mennel and Moore are both very different players who play in different ways, as do Lythe and Flanagan. If GF returns, then our bench should show real strength and flexibility.

A bit out of left field, but I'd go for:

1 HODGSON/PREECE
2 BROWN
3 WALTON See how it works, he could be unstoppable out wide and there isn't a great deal of difference between 2nd rowers and centres these days. If it doesn't work, WILLIAMS
4 MAUN
5 JOHNSON
6 HANDFORTH
7 MOORE
8 SMITH
9 FLANAGHAN (when he's back) /MENNELL
10 HESKETH
11 BRETHERTON
12 MANNING
13 MENNEL 1st choice 13 when Flanaghans back playing. Otherwise LYTHES
14 LYTHE/WILLIAMS
15 POTTER/MARTIN
16 TOOTILL
17 ROBINSON/LINDSAY

some interesting line ups, not sure what my strongest 13 would be yet, will need to see the new signings in action first - i would say though that if Handforth and Mennell recreate the partnership they had before Mennell left for Oz, Gareth Moore may have a long frustrating season waiting for a chance to shine on the sidelines.
What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law

Got to disagree here Mr Justice, Moore was a fantastic player for us all season, i thought we would really struggle to replace Mennell but he didnt disappoint at all and will only continue to improve - i think its got to be Moore and Handforth who start the season
Its a great problem for KH have though - and this is one of the reasons i think we can make top three - we will have soid cover in alot of key positions.

I have to agree too - Moore to start. It does mean however that Mennell could slot in if the game needs changing or Moore loses form, but I would start with Moore

4. Maun
5. Rettie
6. Handforth
7. Moore
8. Smith

14. Gallagher

16. Toothill
17. Robinson

If Dual Reg Are Available:

Hodgson To Full Back Move Mennell To Hooker & Lythes To Sub To Replace Gallagher.

Johnson To Wing And Drop Rettie.

I Must State That This Is For Northern Rail & Only To See How The New Lads Can Play.
