says "But there is one ginger rodent which we never want to see again - Danny Alexander."

She need to remember that Alexander can always dye his hair, but only surgery can change Mrs Dromey.

Surgery might change her physical appearance, but not her psychological make-up.

His reply was: "I am proud to be ginger and rodents do valuable work cleaning up the mess others lead behind. The Red Squirrel deserves to survive, unlike Labour."

An effective response, but I can't understand why Harman, or anyone else, would make such a silly, personal comment.

all the more odd because it was so calculated, not a silly aside.

Gingerism from the ex equalities minster, shocking.

If he'd been black, gay or a woman there'd be outrage! I expect Ginger Jon, as our token ginger, to craft a carefully worded e-mail to her on behalf of the forums appalled membership!

Whilst I'm not a ginger, there's a strong ginger gene in my family. But I believe in order to produce a ginger, two people with the ginger gene are required. Neither of my children are ginger either.

It's a recessive gene which means it can strike at any time.

Puts the fear of god into some of my friends that they might produce a ginge.

Thankfully despite their names neither Little or Tiny Ginger are ginger.

At a guess it is because she is a horrible, odious individual with no redeeming features.

Quite. I cannot imagine her commenting adversely on a black politician's hair being somewhat different from the Anglo-Saxon norm yet "ginners" are fair game. Says it all about the New Labour mentality.

MY grandma was ginger (you could still see traces of it when she was in her coffin at 86) my uncle was ginger. All his children were ginger to a greater or lesser extent, but then I know that some his wife's relatives were also ginger. My father nor none of his siblings were ginger. But his elder sister married a man with ginger hair and they produced ginger offspring. But he married girl with dark hair and neither of his children were ginger. I haven't seen any of their children, they live in Suffolk.

Year?

We might as well all stop posting now. This board has achieved nirvana.

ahem, maybe I can help. I'm not a doctor, but you can still trust me.

My eldest granddaughter is ginger.

My daughter is ginger.

Our milkman in Yateley was ginger.

I am going to Scotland tomorrow on holiday (well, milkman hunting, really)

The misjudgment of her comment is that despite both bits being evidently true the focus was always going to be on the ginger bit.

Out of curiosity, what colour hair does your milkman have?

The last government were convinced that we were there to do their bidding. They wasted vast quantities of our money in order to spy on us, intimidate us and needlessly over regulate us, whilst gold plating their own pensions and expenses. Their behind the scenes encouragement of, and turning a blind eye to, the kettling and harrassment tactics of the Police are a shameful episode in our history which we need to remember and address urgently.

This is either...

or

(ii) The opening lines to Chris Evans' autobiography.
