Neil FrazerFrazer, who has just finished a three-month testimonial for services to the game, has agreed a new one-year deal with Workington Town this week.
And club chairman Dave Bowden is delighted to keep hold of one of the in-form players from last season’s side.
“Neil has had a wonderful testimonial and it has gone so well because he is such a popular player,” said Bowden.
“Fans always appreciate players who do the work and the hard yards and Neil never sits on the wing and waits for the ball to come to him, he goes to look for it.
“He has had some injury niggles over the years but last season was one of his best.
“It went as well as could be expected and we all feel he has certainly got more games left in him at this level.”
Frazer, now 34, had indicated at the start of the 2010 season that it would be his last but as the year went on, he admitted it would be tough to call it a day while he was still on form.
Coaches Gary Charlton and Martin Oglanby made no secret of the fact they wanted him to continue.
And Frazer’s efforts reaped the ultimate reward at the back end of the season when he won his first Cumbria cap, in the Garry Purdham Memorial game against England at the Recreation Ground.
Bowden added: “I’m pleased that he is coming back and I know Gary Charlton is delighted as he is a great asset to the club.
“And we are all pleased that he has confirmed that he will play on.”
