However, afterwards I began to doubt my decision as I'm not normally someone who takes short cuts. Was it the right thing or should I have had a slap on the wrists? Does anyone else take advantage of these obvious temptations?

Was forced to do a bit of decorating last week. Very much a painful exercise - I'm no good at it for one thing. As I was plodding through I began to question why I was painting obvious blind spots (e.g. top of door frames and skirting board under radiator). Half-way round I vowed to ignore these potential tricky spots on the premise that no-one will see them.

The top of a door frame is OK, but the general rule is that if you can get a point brush to it, you are likely to see it at some point. The skirting board under the radiator is something you will notice time and again, not so the top of the door.

I decorated my living room the other week and was fortunate enough to have my wife point out the blind spots that I had missed.

Wives are good at that

The last government were convinced that we were there to do their bidding. They wasted vast quantities of our money in order to spy on us, intimidate us and needlessly over regulate us, whilst gold plating their own pensions and expenses. Their behind the scenes encouragement of, and turning a blind eye to, the kettling and harrassment tactics of the Police are a shameful episode in our history which we need to remember and address urgently. - Haloman

Next time she puts here make-up on, offer her the same help.

But call A and E first so they can reserve a bed in intensive care
1. make sure you have good light when you decorate...it is easier then to see the bits you've missed
2. Isolate, unhook and hinge down your rads so you can decorate behind them.
3. Paint the top surface of your architraves..the dust is easier to get off.

No - leave it as it is and then, when you've been discharged from A&E, you can make similarly helpful observations once again.

or you could advise her that to save time when she is dusting so she can spend much-needed time on her make-up...
No, on reflection, tis a silly idea.

Oh dear Pete, so much to learn.
Adopt our approach. Our lass does all the painting and I don't criticise.
It works a treat.

Got to admit, when papering/painting a kitchen, I never do all the way down to the top of the upper rows of cupboards.
Invisible unless you're female, and want to get step ladders out, then bang your head on the ceiling so you can see how big the gap I left is.....then go on about it until I leave.
