FA Cup first round is here, tonight Rochdale struggled against FC Utd of Manchester,Lost at the end, in fact, tomorrow, Sat 6th sees the majority of games.
My team, Macclesfield host Southend Utd, which could be interesting, but I think Fleetwood at home to Walsall could be a turn-over of the pro lads.
So, anyone else got a tip for a non-league side to progress?
Or a 4th div to beat 3rd etc?

Here's the fixtures, the top one looks a chance too.

92 places and FC were more than a match for them, at times you woulds have thought dale were the non league outfit

Enjoyed the match and well done to the fc united crew. Hope they grow to be bigger than manure. Liked the range of chants. Slade to pistols. Do think they may cop a fine for the pitch invasion regardless of it being non threatening.
Caught by a feckin speed camera. try these I did and it saved me a heap o money and penalty points.

The main one today was Tamworth beating Crewe

Living in the town I use the football for when I want to be partisan and my trips to rugby when I want to enjoy a game as a neutral.

When you have watched a non league football team for 15 years with little success. days like today are memorable To appreciate a giant killing you need to have done some of the awful games and remember the trips made over the years such as a 6 0 defeat at Kings Lynn on a Tuesday and two 400 mile plus round trips to watch defeats against other clubs who are also being relegated, on the two Saturdays before Xmas.

There is really little equivalent nowadays in the challenge cup. The amateurs can beat chmapionship sides but really only when the championship side are poor. I cannot see anyone from the amateurs beating say Batley or Sheffield let alone Barrow or Widnes nor can I see anyone apart from the top clubs in the championship being competitive with Super league

Still apart from the FA Cup football has little of interest for me and back to rugby for the next few weeks

Quite a bizarre 12 minutes in the 2nd half at Southport, with 6 goals being scored, 4 of them to Weds.
Ended up 5-2 from Southport twice equalising.
Relatively enjoyable, better to watch than Arsenal v Toon on Sky afterwards. (0-1)

Lincoln beat Nuneaton 1-0?

By the way WTF was the draw about yesterday? Two non-entities from Daybreak drawing the teams out? Are ITV really that desperate to promote this dog of a show and are the FA really so deep in their pockets that they have to let them?

That's the nature of the game, I'm afraid - Rugby League and Union. The equivalent of nicking a goal then packing your penalty box just doesn't apply when the physical element of pressure is added to the mental one by a better-conditioned team..
"Journalists are meant to be neutral, for God's sake." - Stephen 'Wiggy' Jones

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

How about little Liverpool to try and get something tomorrow at their mighty neighbours?

Nah that's a shock too far.

I did mention that option earlier.
New manager, plus Utd chasing the title. L'pool got an eye over the drop zone, but will avoid relegation, and Wembley is their only real chance of a pot.
