in my garage I have two work benches, 3 vices or clamps, a rail and pulley for lifting engines out of cars, a corner especially for spades, rakes and things for prodding the grass and a shelf for bits of wood to stir paint with and a picture of a spitfire on the wall

every chap should have his own space

sexist...I should start a thread for girls tongue.gif ...maybe one on handbags and the mysteries of what's inside them biggrin.gif

Some are like Mary Poppins bag i.e. fit as much and more besides than your shed

Some are tiny and are for going out, they fit nowt besides your keys and lippy

and a myriad of types inbetween

and I'd have no manbag posts...listening browny?

err...you may carry on with your sheds now

OK. There is a shed rule analogous to the handbag rule, though. You need one shed for gardening stuff and one shed for useful stuff.

My son's father in law has a home-made woodburning stove in his shed so he can mill and turn on the coldest of evenings. He made the stove from an old Calor gas cylinder. he cut a hole in the front and made a door to fit and he cut a hole in the top for the flue, all using an oxy torch. ohmy.gif

We keep the inlaws in the garage (well when they come to visit!), sadly we went to the trouble of having it converted and an shoved a shower room in so its far to comfortable with the added negative that I now have less space!

I did have a shed, but clearly did not take into account when I purchased it how much rubbish my two year old would acquire to help fill it in her short life, so have no room in there either. Time to upgrade!

On the Radio Manchester phone in tonight, a chap called in heartbroken, he had a deal with his good lady that he could watch as much football as he liked so long as he did it in the shed, sadly a stray sparkler sent it up in flames on Thursday whilst he was in watching the Europa League!

He took an oxy-acetylene torch to a gas cylinder, that's like lighting a cigarette from the smoldering blue touch paper of a large firework. Does he do the lottery?

Garage only, sheds are a waste of garden space.

It's neat and ordered, with plenty of floor space open for working in.

Virtually everything that can be is stored in big plastic tubs that are clearly labelled and stacked. Also have two massive plastic outside storage boxes with the doors in the garage as they’re brilliant for getting stuff stored for easy access; one all the occasional use garden stuff (paints, tiles, decorating stuff, and stuff), and then one for stuff from the house (that is used less than once a year like summer clothes, summer duvets (vacuum sealed), and for camping stuff. This leaves the majority of the garage free for four bikes and parts, as well as bike trainer, a flymo (hanging on the wall) a Honda mower, various garden tools, bike/household tool, ladders, bike tools, various garden and machinery fluids/cleaners stacked on the windowsill, and a couple of rodent traps and bait…..

aye, good stuff! ( it was empty, REALLY empty) he's managed to survive to the age of 70, though I wonder if running his van of 50% diesel, 50% used chip fat may change that.

We use the garage to keep the cars in, but have a shed round the back of the garage to keep all the garden stuff in. The lawnmower and various tools fit in the garage with the cars.

I would like a greenhouse, but with two young kids there is never enough time. We grew some veggies this year and that went well, a geenhouse would be a great addition.

The last government were convinced that we were there to do their bidding. They wasted vast quantities of our money in order to spy on us, intimidate us and needlessly over regulate us, whilst gold plating their own pensions and expenses. Their behind the scenes encouragement of, and turning a blind eye to, the kettling and harrassment tactics of the Police are a shameful episode in our history which we need to remember and address urgently.
