mick green shakin all over by johnny kidd and the pirates

Mick Green didn't play on that record. It was Joe Moretti.

Still a fantastic riff though.
And when they found our shadows
Grouped around the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
No tears to cry no feelings left
This species has amused itself to death

True, but there are several recordings of Mick playing it, and much better than the original IMO.

The greatest guitar riff (not) was John Peel appearing of TOTP with the Faces "playing" the mandolin solo on Maggie May. Anyone know who actually played the mandolin?

Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way.

A heavyweight stonker of a riff, and one that is almost certainly on the 'banned' list in all guitar shops, along with 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Sweet Child o'mine'.

That's a tremendous solo and one of the best rock songs ever written.

Good stuff.

Saxon have some belters in their repertoire, and they're still superb live.

Yep.

Blackmore's solo on Kill The King is another top notch effort too.

When Blackmore left Deep Purple to front Rainbow he took me with him. I was a huge fan.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - American Girl. Mike Campbell's classic riff for the middle eight (later sampled by the Fun lovin' Criminals).

A great country riff; 6 Days On The Road, as played by the Flying Burritos at Altamont in 1969. Featured Sneaky Pete Kleinow on pedal steel, later replaced by the phenomenal Al Perkins ... who's still playing gigs.

Worth watching the video, which indicates how the Hells Angels were keen on beating people up at the festival just for the sake of it, and well before the Stones came on stage.
